Apple Leopard Graphics 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Did not fix ATI Radeon 9600 screen flash
OK.... updated one of our G5's to 10.5.2 and then installed the Leopard Graphics update. The pink/green intermittent screen flash (every 2 minutes or so) is still not fixed. [alert admin]

Apple QuickTime 7.4 (Mac OS X)
QT 7.4 ganked After Effects Renders
Oh lovely.... QuickTime 7.4 totally ganked every machine in our studio that is running After Effects. It now craps out anywhere from 12-30 seconds worth of rendered frames and gives a nice, fat "After Effects error: opening movie - you do not have permission to open this file (-54)" error.".... now... we're pretty dang savvy at troubleshooting machines and have done all the usual (and unsual) fixes... nada. Nothing works. This is happening on all machines running After Effects CS3 8.0.1.... one 8-core machine is running 10.5.1 Leopard (yes, we know Leopard isn't fully AE compatible) and 3 separate machines (2 dual-core PPC and one 8-core Intel) running Tiger 10.4.11.... we have absolutely verified that it is the QuickTime 7.4 update causing this problem. OnyX 1.9.0 (Mac OS X)
I ran OnyX 1.9.0 release and after it verified the volume it said it needed repairs. So I booted off of my Leopard install disk... ran Disk Utility.... and it came back saying it was ok. So I'm just curious if Disk Utility is making a mistake or if it is OnyX that is making the mistake. [alert admin]

Extensis Portfolio Server 8.5 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
Sounds like a great package... for the two companies that can afford it
We've been looking into a package like this.... however, after reviewing the initial costs coupled with the annual service contract it appears there are two companies in my state that could actually afford this little doozy. When will companies dump this outrageous cost and licensing BS that they keep stuffing down our throats? I'd be willing to cough up maybe $2,000 for this package and.... if you twisted my arm nearly off, I'd pay a $500 annual service contract..... but that's it. Period. [alert admin]

Azureus BitTorrent Client 3.0.2.0 (Mac OS X)
This baby still has some memory leaks. Leave Azureus running by itself for a couple of days and then quit out. Check how much free memory you have left. Applications that are memory hungry are brought to a crawl after running Azureus. Other than that... still the best torrent software out there.... love their media browsing tools... it's nice to get access to trailers in HD. [alert admin]

Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne 1.21 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
You have to go to /user/Library/Preferences/ and toss out anything that has Blizzard or Warcraft in it's filename. After that everything worked just fine. [alert admin]

SheerVideo Pro 2.4.7.5 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
There hasn't been any apparent development on this plugin in nearly a year... there are definite issues with After Effects, FCP 5.1.2 and QuickTime 7.1.3 with the current version that have yet to be resolved. I love this plugin and 90% of our projects are in this codec. If development has ceased then we're in for some serious doodoo. [alert admin]

Are you running 3rd party extensions that aren't Leopard compatible... like older versions of APE or Little Snitch? Did you repair permissions before and after install? Did you boot of your install CD and repair disk to ensure you don't have any corrupted directories prior to install? We've only had grief on one machine out of the dozens we installed 10.5.... and guess what?... it had a corrupted directory and the user hadn't ran disk …

Permission repairs under 10.5.3 are easily 4-5x faster than under 10.5.2

Did not fix ATI Radeon 9600 screen flash
I've read the forums on the Apple site and there are LOTS of people with this problem. For everyone, including us, this didn't problem didn't show up until the day we installed Leopard.... and it has persisted throughout all the updates.

Did NOT fix "no video--only audio--in browser playback."
You probably have 3IVX installed... there is much discussion on this. Dump 3IVX and it will work.

If I were you I would go to Apple's site and download the 10.5.1 Combo Updater and reapply the update.

I think 10.5.2 should have been the initial release
Permission repairs are significantly longer under Leopard.... not sure if there is an issue with the utility or if Leopard is doing deeper, more extensive permissions checks. They have definitely updated Disk Utility's Repair Disk feature... it repairs many more errors than the Tiger release did.

so many problems remindes me on 10.0 roll out
We've installed 10.5 on over two dozen machines without a single hiccup so far.... both PPC as well as Intel. We also only did the Upgrade install versus the Archve and Install. We made sure that 3rd party daemon's and the like were pulled off, we repaired permissions, and then ran repair disk off of the 10.5 install disk to ensure the boot drives were healthy.
