Dejal Narrator 2.0b3 (Mac OS X)

Previous feedback is for version 1

Hi, I'm the developer of Narrator. I just wanted to make sure people noted that the previous feedback on the price perception was for version 1, released several years ago.

Version 2 has many enhancements over version 1, including much-requested exports to iTunes and AAC. So it's worth much more... but I'll only be asking $19.00 for it. (It's available for $14.95 during the beta testing.) I always welcome feedback on pricing, feature requests, bug reports, and other comments. The Narrator Forum would be the best avenue for support. I always reply promptly.

I hope you enjoy the enhancements in Narrator 2!

- David

Macfilink 1.4.1 (Mac OS X)

Re user guide

Hi, I'm the author of Macfilink. I'm sorry you didn't find it intuitive. The sentence you refer to in the User Guide is simply suggesting that you may not need to use the User Guide to figure out the application functions, but if you do, the rest of the Guide explains each of them.

As for the application purpose, I've tried to explain it on the main product page, though perhaps not clearly enough. Macfilink is a specialized tool for people who earn money from affiliate sites. If that isn't you, this product won't help you, but if you do have such income, it will help protect it by cloaking the affiliate links.

It creates web pages that you can include on your site for each affiliate page you want to link to. Instead of embedding a link directly to the affiliate page, you link to the page Macfilink creates instead. The affiliate page is loaded within that page, so the location URL looks like it is on your site, but it's really a third-party page. The affiliate URL is hidden.

I hope this helps clear it up. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. [alert admin]

Dejal Simon 1.1b3 (Mac OS X)

dogbert2k2: I'm glad…

you like it. Depending on your provider, you can very likely send SMS messages via e-mail, using the new e-mail notifier (which is much improved in the upcoming 1.1b4). [alert admin]

aaron2: Thanks for…

your feedback. To respond to your points: 1) The Standard license for Simon (allowing 10 tests) is comparably priced to competing products -- cheaper than some. 2) Please e-mail us with more information about what you find confusing in the User Guide -- we have tried to make it easy to read. Dejal Simon 1.0 (Mac OS X)

MacEuph: Thanks for…

your comments. OmniWeb is a great app -- we highly recommend it. But Simon's "Smart Change Detection" feature is more flexible. With Simon, you can specify a portion of a page to monitor, and so concentrate on the bit you care about, ignoring incidental changes like banner ads etc. We use this feature in several ways in-house, e.g. to monitor the number of downloads from VersionTracker. It just watches the "Downloads this version" value periodically, and uses a Speech notifier to say, for example, "Simon downloads: 73 now downloaded." Very convenient. There are many other examples, e.g. checking for webmail, seeing if your favorite comic has been updated, etc. [alert admin]

Kajiki and others…

will be pleased to note: by popular request, we have now reduced the price to just US$ 19.95 -- a 20% saving on the old price. [alert admin]

JLM, thanks for…

your comments. We believe that "beta" is an accurate designation, as it is very usable and useful in its current state. Programs constantly evolve, and we included the notification tables to indicate that it is coming - but the app is still usable without it. Re the license type, it is free while in beta, but will be a demoware product when in general release. I've changed the VT designation to Beta; sorry for the confusion. Please e-mail us if you wish to discuss anything in more detail. [alert admin]

Huh

Narrator uses speech synthesis to read out stories, interviews, etc in multiple voices. You can assign different synthesized voices to different parts of the text, e.g. for different people. You can listen to the result in Narrator, or export to a sound file or iTunes track.

Check out the screencast on the Narrator product page to see an example.

Website availability

This isn't the best avenue for support. Try emailing me at info@dejal.com... though if you can't access the server, email may not work. Try pinging the site, e.g. via this tool, and let me know what it says. Where are you located? If there is a problem accessing my site from somewhere, I'll need to alert my web host.

Website availability

Regarding the comments on the website availability, I am sorry that you are having difficulty accessing it. However, the site is not and has not been down. I monitor it closely, and hundreds of people have successfully downloaded this and other products. I guess the problem must be local to you. If anyone else has difficulty accessing the site, please let me know. - David Sinclair, Dejal Systems, LLC
