Firefox 2.0.0.14 (Mac OS X)

Safari Is Better

Maybe Firefox is better for web design. It's definitely way better than Internet Exploder. But for everyday browsing for the average user, I prefer Safari, hands down. For me it's slow to load and a little slower browsing than Safari. It's main drawback is constant security updates. Every time there's an update, one or more plugins or addons become obsolete. It's just a pain. Autofill is incompat most of the time. I only use it when a some Windoz deal requires it. [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.9 (Mac OS X)

Okay But Slow

For me Firefox is just very slow, compared to Safari. It does have nice features, but then every time they do an update, some useful features aren't compatible, like autofill, until later. Crazy way to do updates. [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Erratic Mouse

I have an older Logitech mouse that works pretty well....except...the cursor randomly, out of the blue jumps off the window (desktop). At Logitech 'support' there is an 'answer' for erratic mouse behavior but it's basic stuff like cleaning the mouse and using the correct surface etc; then a help thingy for Windoz. No Mac answers. I set up a user name/password long ago to use their 'discussions' but still can't log in; eg, 'not recognised' but then try new sign up and 'username already taken'. There's some nasty posts there from Macsters. The LCC is in my System Prefs. How does one trash it from System Prefs? [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.3 (Mac OS X)

Like Molasses

My previous version was slow, but this version is s-l-o-w-e-r. Firefox does have lots of features, but they sometimes just get in the way of basic browsing. I only use in cases where a web site won't open with Safari. [alert admin]

EasyEnvelopes 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Great Freebie App

I went round and round trying to print an envelope with TextEdit. This app knocked it right out; easy learning curve. Five star because it's free. Thanks! [alert admin]

Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.7 (Mac OS X)

Decent But It's Not Safari

I only use Firefox to access a bank and my county tax record web sites. It's much slower than Safari. On my DSL connection, Firefox lags for about 5-6 seconds before it opens. Then, overall browsing is a tic slower than Safari. Overall a nice browser but I'm sticking with Safari for 99% of my browsing. [alert admin]

Apple Security Update 2006-004 (Mac OS X)

No Problems

All's well, including online banking and all apps. Don't have Bluetooth so can't comment. Some users suggest running Repair Permissions both before and after. I did that even though I believe Apples says that an update requiring a restart normally should not require permissions repair. I also unplugged my USB hub before running the Update. [alert admin]

Flip4Mac WMV 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Works Great For Me

I've read at MacFixit that it causes problems with iWeb. All I know is that I used to get warning messages every time I opened a .wmv about plug-ins. And now I don't and .wmv's play just fine. Haven't tried a .pps yet. Hope it works on those (because I've found OpenOfficeJ to be slow as molasses and buggy). [alert admin]

StuffIt Expander 10.0 (Mac OS X)

Works For Me

I appreciate freeware that works. With this version I've unstuffed two .sit files, automatically. I tried using v 6 (that I drug from my OS 9 volume) and got 'error code 10814', whatever that means. Downloaded v10 and voila! [alert admin]

Okay But Slow

I forgot to mention: because of the slowness, I only use it for one of my financial institutions that won't work with Safari.
