Apple Aperture 2.1.1 (Mac OS X)
The update won't install. It says there is no copy of Aperture installed. Readers on the Apple discussion forums have reported this problem when Aperture has been moved from the default location in /Applications, but mine IS in the default location. [alert admin]

Network Tools feature may be missing
Read through their forums before you upgrade to version 9: http://nolobe.com/forums/ A number of bug reports are coming in, and some major features (Help Documents, Network Tools) appear to be missing. Also, the developer says that their offices burned down in a fire today. Might slow down support responses for a while. [alert admin]

Documents To Go 8.003 (Mac OS X)
Crashes frequently, including evil crashes where it goes into an endless loop of resets, requiring a hard (delete all data) reset. Good thing I have backups on the SD card. You do that to, right? [alert admin]

ScreenCleaner Pro 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I downloaded this, and it has really made my monitors much brighter and easier to read. Thanks Ambrosia! One warning, though. Don't download the program to your iPod. At first, as I was walking around the entire world seemed much brighter and more cheerful. Unfortunately, I forgot to turn it off before I plugged the iPod into the stereo of my car. Now my candy-apple red Porche is hot pink!!! [alert admin]

OmniOutliner Pro 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Has anyone gotten the Keynote import feature to work with Keynote 2 (iWork) files? You might want to test this feature on your setup before you delete the old programs (like I did). [alert admin]

Works fine, but we'll see if it actually reduces the spam.... ![]()

(Note that the version number should actually be 3.0.3) I have this working great on 10.3.6 with Entourage X and a Yahoo email account. Just drag the spam emails from Entourage into the designated folder, and it will work. Disadvantages: 1) Generally about half bounce back as "mailbox full" or "no such user" ... leading to more useless email in my inbox 2) Only seems to work with one email account. There doesn't seem to be a way to add additional email accounts to the product. We'll see if this actually helps or not. I'm not surprised that it will take weeks to work, the spammers need to figure out who is generating the complaints and remove them from their mailing list. In the long term, this won't help much with disreputable ISP's, since they will just ignore the compaints. It may help get zombie home computers on DSL/Cable connections booted off the network, if people like Comcast play ball. I doubt it, though, since Comcast can already figure out who has been zombied by looking at the users with high volume outgoing email. Still, the hassle factor might reduce the market value for a zombied PC a bit. It's nice to have some way to fight back. [alert admin]

SuperDuper! 1.3(68.2) (Mac OS X)
Flawlessly creates bootable backups. Carbon Copy Cloner occasionally freezes when backing up to firewire hard drives, and Restrospect routinely breaks aliases. This program has passed the ultimate test ... I have used it to clone the machine to multiple other Macs, as well as firewire hard drives. Once you copy over everything the first time, it's quite fast to copy only the "differences" when you need to do a backup. Five stars ... I immediately bought licenses for every Mac that I maintain. Access via contexual menu would be nice, but this app works flawlessless for me (10.3.3) When I download journal articles in pdf format, they sometimes come through as "Preview" files instead of "Acrobat" files. This little droplet allows me to strip the type and creater away in one step, thus making them all default the the "Acrobat" program of my choice. Much less tedious than opening "Get Info" for each file, or invoking "A Better Finder Creators & Types" Two thumbs up!!! If you routinely use this on downloaded files, you won't be fooled by the iTunes mp3 "proof of concept" Trojan or files like it. This will force the file to be treated according to it's file extension, not it's icon. [alert admin]

From the developer: "Ping, Trace Route, and co are no more. The same functionality is provided by the system provided Network Utility and we thought there was little point in duplicating this functionality. The Traffic Watching functionality will live on, albeit as a separate application. It should be available in the next couple of months and will be free. "
