Updated as part of Toast 8.0.3 Generally good program in the past but now crashes almost every time - I suspect it relates to Auto Define as when I resurrect a recording and define manually it doesn't crash. Cynic MBP 2.33 GHz Intel Duo with OS 10.5.1 Leopard [alert admin]

iSoundFile 0.5 (Mac OS X)
Intel MacBook Pro OSX 10.4.10 Trying to convert 16 bit AIFF (Audacity) to 8 bit so I can import into iTunes. iSoundFile crashes frequently when I try to choose a folder into which to convert, or when actually converting. Has crashed in 4 of 6 attempts to use. Also no easy way to batch convert. Cynic. [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.3 (Mac OS X)
Have used firefox for years....until this version. I can start Firefox, go to a web page and wait.....start Safari, find web page, go back to Firefox and it's still waiting to load pages. So slow that I'm reverting to Safari. Too bad - used to be an excellent product. Not sure what happened with this but definitely a step backwards [alert admin]

Three talks to give - short deadline. Had installed Office 2004 a few days ago after no real problems with Office X. Looking forward to its touted features....you know what is coming..... Powerpoint 2004 wouldn't open about 25% of my old presentations without abruptly crashing - the helpful error messages winging their way to MSoft HQ. No luck on the Microsoft Mactopia support site - no mention of this as a problem although they did describe something similar when trying to export images. Error message says something to the effect that : "EXC_BAD_ACCESS" - whatever that means. Even when presentations did open PP 2004 much slower than PP X. Have had to remove (and the office remover doesn't work either - just removes preferences - another story) it all and reinstall Office X - with all its many updates. A waste of money and time. Don't buy it. Cynic [alert admin]

Virex X 7.5rc1 (Mac OS X)
Everything else comes to a grinding slow down while it works...and works....and works....Takes far longer than an earlier non-beta version. So slow as to be useless for me. Mechanism of scheduling scans not as inuitive as previous versions - why not include it in preferences instead of as a separate scheduler? [alert admin]

Software update does say I need this update, and my Boot ROM version is one of the ones eligible (according to info on net elsewhere) - but the update doesn't work. It goes through the process of downloading and installing, but never asks me to restart (which it should for firmware update??), and doesn't change the Boot ROM version. No message that I don't need the update during any of this either. Anyone…
