Keywurl 1.3 (Mac OS X)
I don't know what happened to Safari SIA since leopard came out but this is a worthy replacement. I had to change the settings for IMDB but the others work fine and I've added a few of my own. Great work. [alert admin]

Can You Raed Tihs? 2.1.1 (Mac OS X)
What else is in this app? If it just scrambles the letters in word it could be a few KB of javascript. 2.7MB! that's a lot more than meets the eye. [alert admin]

TrimTheFat 0.7 (Mac OS X)
saved 40+ MB from Google Earth alone. No need for all that Intel fluff on my computer. [alert admin]

GPSPhotoLinker 1.3.0 (Mac OS X)
Totally brilliant and wonderfully useful, especially love the reverse geocoding thing where it gets a human-readable location from the lat/long coordinates. [alert admin]

Apple Front Row 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Just because a mac doesn't ship with a built in IR port it doesn't mean it can't run FrontRow. I have an old IR remote from Keyspan, plenty of other people have bluetooth keyboards they could control it with, or bluetooth phones for that matter. The is definitely a useful app for other macs, and should be made available to them somehow. iLife '06 perhaps? [alert admin]

Keyspan Digital Media Remote 2.2 (Mac OS X)
Tried on 10.4.2 and it worked perfectly. It's good to see a company that keeps on working on software well after they got my money. [alert admin]

So the software you wrote basically saves the user from typing command-T? wow.

What if the app is doing other things, like deciding which files to copy, setting permissions one by one instead of all at once? What if it's doing a check-sum on each file after copying, then clearing memory and starting a fresh with the next one? There are plenty of things that these apps do besides start a copy. 10x speed difference is incredible, but that doesn't mean they have to be identical in timings.

Someone has pointed this out to me, and I'll improve the Read Me file next time for now here goes. Once installed, open iPhoto, select the photos you want to use, "export" them (command-shift-E) and choose iPhotoToGoogleEarth from the tabs. It works like any other iPhoto plugin, I have used a few so I just assumed people were familiar with them. It's only compatible with iPhoto.

Is it possible you could either ammend your first comment to reflect your discovery, or post a new one above it. Currently the first thing new people read is that it doesn't work, which isn't a great first impression. cheers :-)

I'm not sure what you mean by "doesn't indicate". In my testing the N,S,E,W direction is stored in the Exif data just like the coordinates are. If that isn't happening for you please email me (address is in the Read Me file), including a non-indicated jpeg would be good too.

You could try GeoTagger (which I put together). It takes the location you are looking at in Google Earth and stamps it into the images you drop on it.

GeoTagger quit on each drag-drop ![]()

Geotagger is intended to be a droplet rather than an application. So you drop images on it first, it opens up, does the tagging and then closes. I think this has caused some confusion because a few people have written in thinking it is crashing. In the next release I'll make it sty open if the user has opened it by double clicking, and make it auto-quit if it was opened by dropping images on…

So glad you liked it. Tags, userpics and secure passwords using the OS X Keychain are all part of LiveWidget 2.0. Drop me a line if you're interested in being a tester
