Navigate Artists/Albums within Playlists

When the heck is Apple going to allow us to navigate by Artist and Album from within a playlist? I've seen this request all over the place including all over Apple's forums. Navigating to a song title in a playlist of any size is totally unusable. [alert admin]

SimpleText Filter 1.5 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

PeLa?

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Ever used the product? Even know what it's for? Are you an e-mail admin? Do you think $75 is unreasonable for a company to pay for a well-supported filter for its e-mail server? If your company thinks $75 is a lot, I suggest you find another job before you get laid off. This is a quality product written by a quality programmer who interacts quickly and efficiently with his user base. It's a shame this product has to exist at all but until filtering is a thing of the past, this is as good as it gets. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 0.8 (Mac OS X)

I agree with…

most...Very nice browser. I'm moving quickly to an all-Apple computer now. We need tabs like Chimera, auto-fill would be terrific and Brian's idea of using iSync to have the same set of bookmarks across multiple Macs is a nice idea too. Hoping tabs makes it to the first official release. [alert admin]

Freeway 3.5 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Tried the demo…

and decided to buy because it does link maps on JPGs. I bought the downloadable version from digitalriver.com and they sent me to the link for 3.0, not 3.5. I contacted the makers of Freeway and they were extremely responsive. A+ for service. They got me all squared away. I suggest at least perusing the manual because as with any program which offers a ton of functionality, it's not intuitive enough to design decent web pages from the start. It also uses a different format in which you have a Freeway file which contains your entire web site. It doesn't create the individual files until you actually use the Publish menu item. Now that I understand how it all works, it makes sense and seems to be a nice program. [alert admin]

EtherPeek 4.02 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

themacaddict, Huge difference.…

EtherPeek is for network administrators to monitor packets traveling on the entire network to or from any IP address. IPNetMonitor monitors only your computer's connection. EtherPeek puts your network card into promiscuous mode which simply means that it listens for and records every packet traveling on your segment of the network. Very cool but you wouldn't want many people too many people on you network to have it. [alert admin]

CalendarPlus 3.11 (Mac OS 9)

The calendar looks…

good if you can get it set up. I tried to get it up and running on a Windows NT machine but was lost because I don't know Perl (the web site tells you that you need to be able to modify directory paths in Perl if you want it to run on NT though so I must take some of the blame). The scripts are built for UNIX and need to be modified to run on NT or MacOS. I ended up uninstalling it and purchasing WebEvent instead which has much better documentation and was easier to set up (but is more expensive). I e-mailed the creator of Calendar Plus but was not even given the courtesy of a response whereas the folks at WebEvent got back to me immediately each of the three times I e-mailed them. If you know Perl, this is probably a cheaper option and just as good as WebEvent but if you need support of any kind, I'd recommend WebEvent unconditionally. We're very happy with it. [alert admin]

Mapopolis 2.0 (Palm OS)

Excellent. 2.0 has…

many new, nice features. It will actually find a street *address* in Manhattan using the more detailed map. This is a terrific find even for someone who lives in Manhattan. [alert admin]

I'm talking about while using my iPod, not iTunes. iTunes is a terrific application and I really don't have many complaints at all. The interface on the iPod itself needs some tweaking though... Cory

Wake up!

This product gets installed on the e-mail *server*. One license covers every account on the entire e-mail server. This isn't some plug-in you install on top of Eudora or mail.app or Outlook. Geez...find out what a product does before you post negative comments about it.
