Spanning Tools 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Works like magic for me

The application is working beautifully for me. I used it already when it was in beta (and free during the beta) and immediately got a licence when it made it to 1.0. The application corrected numerous problems I had (duplicate calendar events because of the Entourage/iCal mess, duplicate contacts, contacts with the same e-mail, etc) and it fixed everything like a charm. Since then, my MobileMe syncing is much smoother and weird warnings I was getting all went away. The application is a real blessing for me. I haven't seen problems with memory on my Mac. I find it a bit pricey, but at the end, it saved me from so many headaches that I thing it was well worth the price. [alert admin]

Tagit 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Great tagging app!!

Easy to use, fast, it really makes tagging easy and plays very nicely with Spolight (and Leap)!! I wish Leap would go all the way to OpenMeta to be able to see and manipulate the Tagit tags, but I guess that'll be for a future version. At least it can find them (through Spotlight) and that's what matters the most, Best of all, it's free!!!! [alert admin]

Adobe Media Player 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Not ready IMVHO

Poor resolution of the videos, ads everywhere, the video freeze when you try to go back a few seconds and then goes back to the ads... The application sure doesn't wow me :-( [alert admin]

iVolume 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Why upgrade?

The release note doesn't really make it clear to me why I should pay $19.95 to upgrde over version 2.5. The previous version was also pretty good to deal with albums. I couldn't care less about the fact that a Windows version is now available. Do I really need to pay that much fir the potential speed improvement?? [alert admin]

Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X 6.5 (Mac OS X)

Great NTFS support!

The app works flawlessly for me. Very nice indeed to finally be able to read-write/repair NTFS drives. The only thing that's missing is a way to quickly find which version is installed on your Mac and update the product. [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 9.0 (Mac OS X)

Still old DivX codec

I can't believe that they still haven't updated the embeded DivX codec. It's still the old, outdated, non-optimized DivX 6.4 codec... [alert admin]

Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Distiller still not compatible with Leopard

The updater was simply refusing to do anything, arguing that I had disabled components or moved the applciations (which I had not). I had to fully reinstall Acrobat to get the isntaller to work. I was really disappointed to see that even though Acrobat seems to be fine under Leopard, Distiller still crashes at launch. Completely useless to me then :-( [alert admin]

Why bother?

With just Spotlight, you can't really tag anything. If you want, you can add keywords to the spotlight comments of a file, but it quickly becomes tedious. Try Tagit. The UI makes it very easy to add keywords, previously added keywords, search for them, etc.

And Another Bug!

I installed it as well and I don't see what you described. I wonder whether it could be machine-specific... What computers was it installed on?? I wonder why uninstalling doesn't correct the problem on your Mac :-\

Still swamps the System log

My pleasure. I believe that if people never report problems, they cna never be found and get fixed. I hope a future version will correct this issue :-)

Before you use this app...

The article on the page you site does not justify not using or not installing the app IMVHO. It only says what the author doesn't like in design or way the app is setup. It doesn't cite any major bug or critical flaw in the app. The fact that the app uses an Apple installer requiring admin password is fairly common nowadays. The fact it uses the Apple Help shows it's inttegrated in the…

It's not entirely true... The US version might have seen no change, but the localizations have been drastically improved since the last beta.
