netTunes 2.0.5(980) (Mac OS X)
Very easy to set up and Works perfect from the start with Panther 10.3.4 and iTunes 4.5 on a Dual 1.25 G4 and older Lombard G3 PowerBook. All shareware should be this good. Best iTunes Remote. [alert admin]

Ovolab RemoteTunes 1.5 (Mac OS X)
I was looking for something like this to control a Wirelessly networked remote PowerBook which is hooked up to my Stereo System from my office Desktop which is were all the actual music resides(Share the Playlists with the Remote through iTunes). Just setting this up seemed sort of cumbersome and I could not even get through the set up without the silly pop ups preventing me from trying the thing out as they occur every few seconds. With a little research I stubled upon NetTunes which was way easier to set up, Works perfectly and gave a decent 30 minute trial to really check out how it functions in my environment. Check it out, I think it's much better and Easier to set up. [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 4.2 (Mac OS X)
Bilbybooks, simply change the pref.
go into Preferences and choose the advanced tab where you will see the option to Copy the song into the iTunes library. Uncheck this and you will not have to deal with a second copy. [alert admin]

Audion X 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)
iTunes pref can be changed easily
To keep iTunes from making a copy, simply go into the advanced tab under preferences and uncheck the copy option. I still prefer Audion due to it's far better Mp3 encoding and playback quality(sounds better than iTunes ACC at 256 to me). [alert admin]

Audion X 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)
It's funny how I keep coming back to Audion whenever I think the MP3's being played back through iTunes are suffering Audio Quality problems. Everytime, the Same file will sound so much deeper and fuller through Audion. This is with a USB to optical out from a Powerbook hooked up to my Yamaha reciever and Vandersteen speakers. iTunes MP3 playback has very poor stereo imaging, lack of low end bass and just sounds thin. The only thing that can be concluded is that Audion has a far superior MP3 Decoder. I also love the available Skins. What I don't like is the more combersome File Management than iTunes which really excels here. Audion has been more prone to crash as well(Although I am using it with an older Lombard PowerBook, File Sharing to a G4 over Airport Extreme which is really pushing the ole G3). It sure would be nice to see Audion update this app with more iTunes like File Mgmt(Playlist Pane) [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 4.2 (Mac OS X)
It's just too bad that iTunes suffers from inferior audio output quality. I recently set up a powerbook a music server to my high end home stereo. Sound was thin and lacking in bottom end. This is playing both high bit MP3's and internet streams. For comparison, I tried Audion. The sound quality improved dramatically. Too bad that Audion lacks iTunes beautiful interface. [alert admin]

Epson Stylus Photo 2200 1.6aA (Mac OS X)
Is it so much to ask of Epson to give us a professional OS X driver for our Professional Printer! I have NEVER been able to get perfect centering of an image when printing out of OSX using either my 2200 OR my 1270. Why is that? I'm always forced to print out of OS 9. It's enoug to scare me out of buying a new machine that will not boot into OS 9, say, like a G5! Come on Epson, fix this. [alert admin]

DV Backup 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)
Wow, Great App, needs better manual and FAQ ![]()

I just purchased this yesterday after reading about it on Macintouch. Wow, great innovative idea. A few troubleshooting comments thus far. I am using a Canon Elura camera which passed the camera test except for the eject feature. No problem there although I think the manual should more clearly state that with such cameras that do not pass the eject test be sure and always click the Update TOC(table of contents) button after finishing a session. The more serious issue I have experienced is with the software loosing track of exactly where files are on a tape. With a new tape, it seems the data code counter on the camera will reset itself to 0 if it senses a blank space on the tape. This seems to confuse the DV backup sofware and when it starts recording another session on the tape, thinks it is back at 0 instead of where the last session left off. Consequently, these subsequent files will not be found. I think one solution may be to record once over a blank tape so the camera does not sense a blank space and automatically reset its data counter to 0. Still testing though and if this is the case, it surely should be mentioned in the manual and FAQ. [alert admin]
