Quay 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I am a long-time user of Quay, was really happy to see it when I started using 10.5. Uninstalled it for about 5 minutes when Apple improved Stacks in one of the updates, but it wasn't good enough. New features like cmd-opt-click on a running app in the Dock to get process info, combined with the sheer awesomeness of using folders in the dock like I'm used to, makes this a must have. Quay 1.1b1 (Mac OS X)
I'm a big fan of the previous version, but this update makes it even better. Best $ I've ever spent on shareware. If you miss the folder-in-the-dock behavior, Quay is for you. More stable than the Finder, too. [alert admin]

Quay 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Desperately Needed Functionality Returns! ![]()

Quay returns most of the functionality that Leopard removed from the Dock, namely having a hierarchical menu popup from a folder placed in the Dock. It also adds quite a bit more (which I haven't looked into, or needed yet). I had a substantial workflow around my set of frequently (but not constantly) used apps with aliases in a set of folders in a folder (web, dev, system, etc.). I had resigned myself to launching everything with Spotlight until I found Quay. It's AWESOME. [alert admin]

Coda 1.0 (Mac OS X)
It's pretty and has some nice features but it's not converting me from BBEdit. The preview feature does not use the web server, so none of my files previewed properly (unlike BBEdit's preview, which can even preview Rails sites). [alert admin]

SvnX 0.9.6.4 (Mac OS X)
I've been wanting to get a Subversion repository set up for some time. A couple big projects loom and so I dove in. SvnX made the process much easier--combined with BBEdit's built-in svn support, I'm in heaven! [alert admin]

CalcService 3.1 (Mac OS X)
I'm so lazy, I even hate to copy and paste from the calculator. Enter CalcService.
I need to position some element in CSS, so I can enter the width of the two elements preceding it, (a + b) select the values, and select Calculate & Replace.
Boom.
Sweet!

Nisus Thesaurus 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)
I was re-introduced to this when I downloaded Nisus Writer Express. It's a great thesaurus. I especially like the "more detail"/"more general" options [alert admin]

TimeLog 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)
I've used many other systems, but never for very long. This is so simple and useful at the same time. A bargain! [alert admin]

MailEnhancer 1.11 (Mac OS X)
This is something that ought to be in Mail, but isn't (yet). It's awesome, and works flawlessly as far as I can tell. I don't use 2 of the 4 features, but the other two are great. The author should not be anonymous, 'cause he deserves kudos! [alert admin]

Not in Panther that I can tell, for what that's worth.

Too busy/important to read the read me, clearly, so let me assist: 1. IMPORTANT! - for iBook or PowerBook users If you are using an iBook or PowerBook, you should be aware that Mac OS X version 10.3 (Panther) made modifications to how it detects the presence of a mouse for the "Ignore trackpad when mouse is present" feature in Apple's Mouse settings in System Preferences. These modifications cause it to detect Kensington MouseWorks as a…
