Free Ruler 1.7b5 (Mac OS X)

A great tool

This is a very useful aid, especially for those of us running dual monitors. As others have noted, the transparency settings have no effect. Transparency remains at 0%, which is to say 100 opaque. True floating would also make it even more attarctive, but those are minor quibbles. No problems here. — Tiger 10.4.10. Dual bootable, DP MDD 1.25GHz G4 (2004), maxed out at 2GB of RAM, both Spotlight and Dashboard disabled, Photoshop primary scratch disk on dedicated 160GB internal drive, at least 100GB available on each of the four internal drives, up to 300GB on some. Counting external FW drives just over 1TB of drive space available. nVidia GeForce 7800 GS 425MHz 256 MB graphics display card. Processor napping enabled through CHUD 3.5.2. Thank you! [alert admin]

Extension Overload 5.9.9 (Mac OS 9)

Beware of Extension Overload!

"Extension Overload" has just caused me the absolute worst crash I've had in recent memory. All I did was run the Extension Overload application, looked up three extensions in its database and try to quit. My machine was frozen so bad that it did not respond to an attempted force quit nor to Control-Command-Powerkey. I literally had to restart by holding the power switch on the computer itself. Nasty. My advice to others is to stay away from "Extension Overload". I should add that my Mac OS 9.2.2 system has been rock solid for a long time now. I don't know what Extension Overload does, but if the application is as badly written as its ReadMe file, its Manual and its database descriptions, I shouldn't be surprised that it crashed so badly.
