QuicKeys 4.0.4 (Mac OS X)
Quickeys was great in the days before OS X, sucked for a couple of years while it caught up, and is now terrific again. It suffers unfairly from low reviews here from people who 1. haven't noticed it got good again, 2. haven't taken time to learn to use the program (there's a learning curve), and/or 3. are shilling to promote other applications. Re: that last, anyone who says "XXX does the same only cheaper" is lying. Quickeys is unique. There's nothing out there with even close to its power. If there's anything repetitive (really, just about ANYTHING) you find yourself doing on a Mac, this program will turn it into a painless macro. I wish I could use it to automate my entire life! Balancing out the mow-ron who rated one star because of an installation error that was his fault. Old time Eudora user here, high hopes for MailForge (cuz Rosetta is not forever).... [alert admin]

Flip4Mac WMV 2.2.1.11 (Mac OS X)

I'd just like to amplify and clarify what others have said. Flip4Mac, in present incarnation, crashes Safari on some movies, and plays WMV files (e.g. in quicktime player) jerkily. But v. 2.2.0.49 is GREAT. NONE of those problems. Just stay there! [alert admin]

TubeTV 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Not Perfect, but Best Tool Out There ![]()

Best tool out there. Big problem is that it won't grab hi-def videos from youtube (a feature that launched since TubeTV's most recent release, so hopefully the dev is working on this). Tabbed browser windows (or at least multiple browser pages) would be cool. One good thing is that Safari tends to crash randomly playing flash video. I can use TubeTV to "protect" my Safari session. It almost never crashes. [alert admin]

VisualHub 1.34a (Mac OS X)
No longer developed, or developed by the developer. It's open sourced now, though, and here's instructions on building the app from the source code (not that hard). If you're os 10.4, there's even a direct download on this page to the built apps http://www.iskysoft.com/article/how-to-build-isquint-and-visualhub.html#121 [alert admin]

There is something to the "competent coding" remark.
Damn bug fixes. Nothing pisses me off worse than steady, diligent improvement!

I've been beta testing Mac software since 1987, and I've not had a single crash or problem with this beta, nor have I heard of anyone else having any crashes or problems with it.

Yah, I upgraded my email client to Outlook Express for the same reason: more users means more, better, faster email! Sure, a client is just a client, but a really great client is a paradigm-changer! One question: will Vuze also improve the quality of the shows I download via torrent? Buffy the Vampire Slayer as downloaded via my current client is so poorly produced!

Still good...but also still ugly, still bloated...! :(
"you believe that HOW MANY people feel the same??" Clearly, the reviewer believes that precisely one person feels that way: him (or her). And that's exactly what this site's for: offering one's opinions. So don't be such a shmuck...

...and...and....children will STARVE, we'll get hit by ASTEROIDS, and DARKNESS WILL RULE THE UNIVERSE! Aptly named "Cowicide": first, check your input managers folder and pull out all the junk there. And deactivate your haxies and application enhancer, if you've got 'em (and you shouldn't...they're notoriously destabilizing). Remove all your firefox stuff and do a fresh install. Try again. And don't have a cow. This software was phenomenally thoroughly/rigorously beta tested. And it works like a charm for…
