Fast DVD Copy 2.7 (Mac OS X)

Doesn't do anything good

I tried to burn a copy of a DVD from a friend. The program said that it had already been copied. What's the point of having a DVD cloning software that stalls on a previously copied DVD? Stupid. Luckily, i tried a friend's copy and didn't waste my money. I suggest to anyone buying this... BEWARE. this program has too many detractors and has that silly need to be plugged into the net to work. Why is that? I keep my MAC offline and don't want to be watched over. I'll use popcorn and mactheripper instead. Ease of Use : excellent everything else : poor [alert admin]

CocoThumbX 1.8.3 (Mac OS X)

Great program

I don't know what is Tea's issue, i've been keeping track of my prefs and they don't seem to vanish. This program does exactly what I need it to do. Create preview icons. I really like that it doesn't change the modication dates, it doesn't touch the data at all. It just adds a 50k resource file. I think the default resource file with the generic JPEG icon is 12k. I turn off anti-aliasing, turn off border and i turn off shadow. the shadow is created within the frame of the icon, so you'll see a smaller view. it's nice but i don't use it. I LOVE, just absolutely love that i can watch how many files have been processed on the dock. I can drop a few thousand jpegs and it counts them down as its finished processing. I prefer it much over GraphicConverter and am glad to find it can replace the old DropIcon. I agree with another comment that the dock icon isn't the best, but you get used to seeing it. I've only run it on JPEGs, so i can't say how it handles other file types. so far so great! [alert admin]

Super Get Info 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)

Great for what i need

This is a great product for what I need. For example, I have a MAIN folder that has 20 subfolders. All together they contain 4,000 jpegs. Panther's GET INFO does NOT let me know how many files are contained withing MAIN. They took that away from me. We had that in OS 9.1. Now how come something so useful and so simple as counting the files within one folder is not included in Panther? SuperGetInfo does that job nicely. Two, I love that it separates the file size into data and resource. A bug i've encountered is that I cannot use the shortcut keys. I just drop the folder or files into the docked icon instead. QPict 6.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Qpict 4.51

I work on OS 9.1 and have found Qpict 4.51 to be the best media manager. I have tried the demos of both 5.01 and 5.28, the first and last 5.x versions if my numbers are off. I have found that the 5.x versions are lacking in flexibilty that I have come to rely with 4.51. The most notable are keyboard shortcuts. I love the shortcuts in 4.5 and found them lacking or too few to be useful in 5.x Keyboard shortcuts to view different sizes, list or image view, and preferences are my most used. I like the options that I can control in preferences. For example, with 4.5, I can set the image to open up within the confines of the monitor or at full size... something that I cannot find how to do in either 5 versions. 4.51 is also very stable. I found glitches with both 5 versions... the earlier is excusable, the latter should be clean and polished. For example, I cannot add files while viewing as a list... and after deleting a column in list view, I can not add nor subtract other columns until i close the window and reopen the entire index. One other thing that i like with 4.51 is that I can use the Finder Comments within the program. For example, I can command+i on my file, and add a url address to my file... say, www.apple.com. When in list view or Info view, i can see my Finder Comment as an url. NEAT!!!!! Unfortunately, this is removed in both versions of 5.x :( One other, other thing i find that is missing is in the list view, one cannot see if the image is RGB or CMYK. With 4.51, I will never have that option, but perhaps Rune L., will add that in the future. I use 9.1, carbonlib 1.1, quicktime 4, on a Umax S900. i only just added carbonlib 1.6 to test 5.x. I have installed 5.x many times thinking it had something that I was missing with 4.51, but every time I trash the sucker and come back home happily to 4.51. A wonderful program.
