OmniOutliner Pro 3.6.5 (Mac OS X)

Spotlight does not find OmniOutliner documents

This is a known bug. If you depend on spotlight you are out of luck with OmniOutliner. I am now looking for an alternative. Any suggestions? [alert admin]

Tired of the Safari crash of the day

If Safari is not fixed in 10.5.2 I am going to switch completely to Camino. I already use Camino to visit untrusted sites because it's cookie management is far superior to Safari's. Apple makes it hard to abandon Safari, but I have enjoyed about all I can stand of it. [alert admin]

StuffIt Expander 12.0 (Mac OS X)

Irony

I just noticed that there is a new version of WordService. I often intend to try it, but somehow never do. I hit download and when Stuffit came up to decompress it I was informed that there is a new version of Stuffit. Fine. I checked and there are no bad things said about Stuffit v12. I downloaded Stuffit v12 and was delighted to see a .dmg file appear. I tried to install Stuffit v12 and discovered that v 10.0.2 is still working on WordService. In fact it still is as I type. Adobe Reader 8.0 (Mac OS X)

Adobe Updater wants my password, plug-in won't go quietly

This is far too intrusive for my taste. I will not upgrade from 8.0 until there is a good reason to do so. One such reason would be that Adobe Updater is reformed. Also, I do not want to view PDFs in a browser window. Why doesn't Adobe make it easy to configure Reader to do what I want? This should not take any of my time and here I am searching the web for information on how to disable Adobe Reader features I don't want. [alert admin]

VersionTracker Pro 4.0fc1 (Mac OS X)

Can't go back to 3.5.3 from 4.0fc1

4.0fc1 is so useless that I downloaded and installed 3.5.3. Big mistake. 3.5.3 now refuses to launch, so I am back to 4.0fc1. [alert admin]

Can't forget v3.5.3

I downloaded and installed v4.0, restarted VersionTracker Pro and it shows v3.5.3 still present with the DL column checked. It most certainly is not around. If I am expected to reboot, that would be a deal breaker. Of what use to me is the the DL column anyway? More noise, less signal IMHO. VersionTracker is supposed to save me time. V 4.0 has cost me time. I wish I had not installed it. I hope that there is an upgrade. [alert admin]

PowerChute is a complete waste of time & space

I am running 10.4.8 and energy saver works fine with my APC Smart UPS. I found the log produced by Powerchute useful. Perhaps APC should separate the logging facility from the portion of Powerchute provided by energy saver.
