MacPorts 1.6.0 (Mac OS X)

Installing hangs...

Indeed, installing last version hangs... yet it is sufficient to force quit, restart, download Porticus and.. all is OK (1.67 PB with Leo). do not be so rude with its author, indeed installer hangs indefinitely, but seems a non-critical issue, after restart all seems OK. Or am I wrong? [alert admin]

iCab X 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Back to the roots

For the sake of ancestry, I should abandon Safari in favour of this old and amazing browser. Definitely, premium size for its developer. If bookmarks and keychain access may be better imported, then it may definitely become a real competitor on the market. Five stars for developer’s constant efforts to update this gem of software. LiquidCD 1.32 (Mac OS X)

Wonderful

Well, works OK in Leo here. Why does developer say is Tiger-only compatible?!! [alert admin]

iCalamus 1.11 (Mac OS X)

Amazing

iCalamus has lately been an amazing app: maximally exploits MAC OS X capabilities (that is why its developers clearly state it is and will be a MAC OS X-only app), with an abrupt blast on the market. It has not yet solved some preoccupying issues, e.g. footnotes import (most important to me) and some others things, did not initially run in Leo, but now it does... iCalamus is just a step from becoming a great app, this is the great temptation of a small company on the brink of becoming a great company. But will European (small) software companies ever become decisive on the market? [alert admin]

MainMenu 1.7.2 (Mac OS X)

Super

Wonderful app. Seems to work Ok in Leopard as well! Perhaps its author should now specify whether fully compatible with Leo. [alert admin]

'Bosnian' localization

This is total, absolute non-sense. I/we do understand the ex-Yugoslav tragedy, but accepting terms like 'Bosnian' language and, consequently, localization is NOT a recommended way to unerstand things. This does not help these people live together. Please remove this from your presentation. [alert admin]

iBackup 5.2.1 (Mac OS X)

best of its kind

Best of its kind. Users of Panther should NOT use these newer versions though, they are designed for ppc / intel compatibility of the current Tiger, and forthcoming Leopard. Older versions, even if somewhat limited, will do the same in Panther, there is no reason for panic. Perhaps the author should post a clearer warning on this. [alert admin]

InstantShot! 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Does what it says it does

Similar to SnapNDrag, and presumably just as good as that. Unlike SnapNDrag, runs in tiger only, SnapNDrag works with Panther as well. [alert admin]

iCalamus 102 (Mac OS X)

Surprisingly good

Beyond any doubt, a big surprise. I would just suggest that text export is not solved yet and, of course, testing how the app behaves or misbehaves with longer documents. [alert admin]

Mac-Friendly Pkg Installer Please

Your comment is superfluous, this last version is indeed mac-friendly, one may launch it anywhere on the disk, as it is now on my second partition. Or is there anything I cannot grasp?

Super

My dearest colleague If you look carefully, I wrote 'seems to work with Leo'. Well, to be frank, I have been using it in various Leo builds this year, and MainMenu has never led to disasters, on the contrary, behaved OK. If you look again to what I wrote, I do not recommend it for Leo, I just stated that it seems to work, and for me works indeed OK. What else shall I depict to you?

Some helpful advice on upgrading

You are right, yet... Some things/details are underdeveloped, and obviously under the pressure of time, even if nobody asked Apple to officially release the Big Cat on Oct. 26, may have been Nov. 26 or Dec. 15 or Jan 15... The result will obviously be an avalanche of updates, one is already there, even if not labelled 10.5.1. Why so soon after the release? Obviously, because they hastened to launch it, and now are hastening to…

Can anyone help me?

Phrasing ‘backup as RTF’ makes no sense, could you be clearer or rephrase it coherently?

Good to have, but SLOOWWWW....

Gutenprint is the ideal tool for (1) those having older printers and/or (2) those traveling a lot, and wishing to connect their portable macs to any printer around. If you find it slow, and are satisfied with your other driver, then do not use Gutenprint.

bad interface

.... and, after downloading and opening it, I do not find the interface ugly at all. I have to test it though. If the developer keeps it as a multiplatform app, then must have a compromise with users of all platforms as what may be familiar with one may be strange with other.
