iSale 3.3 (Mac OS X)
Your iSale license is linked to the computer's Ethernet ID. Buying a new computer? Your software no longer runs and you have to beg for a transfer of the license. And in my case, it took four days and three rounds of e-mail messages until support finally reset the activation code so I could continue using my software. I regret not having been informed about these user hostile and customer despising licensing methods before buying. And, by the way, I do not recall being informed (or agreeing to) having ad banners for this software automatically placed in every auction I create. [alert admin]

TimeLog 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)
A Good, solid app that does its job efficiently and exactly as advertised. I find especially valuable that TimeLog does not rely on any external or proprietary data files. All information is maintained in iCal and Address Book, so .Mac syncing works immediately, backups are done immediately, etc. I also appreciated that version 2 users can upgrade to version 3 free of charge. Some other shareware authors do not show this decency when publishing what is basically a complete re-write of their app. [alert admin]

Lights Out 2.2.6 (Mac OS X)
Solution in search of a problem?
I have not tried this program yet. But from what the developer writes, I get the impression that that this app will only cure the symptoms, not the source of the problem. I need to find a way to determine which app is the misbehaving one causing my Cube not to fall asleep any more (as soon as I find it, I'll be sure to put it out of it's misery). Yeah, I can program. Yeah, I have the developer tools installed. But no, I have not yet stumbled across the utility with which I can trace who is not honoring the "I want to sleep now" message. Tips, anyone? PowerController 1.2 (Mac OS X)
Good job, Keaka! This little gem does exactly what I need, and performs flawlessly at it. Very well worth the modest registration fee. [alert admin]

DVD Cache 0.92 (Mac OS X)
DVD cataloging software seems to be the latest fad. I've been trying them all, and have stuck with Chris' program for the past few months. This one does it right, and the latest version looks polished enough that I happily paid up the modest registration fee. [alert admin]

Saft 6.5.5 (Mac OS X)
The new auto-save and -restore feature caused me to register this software -- why is this not standard in Safari? I have to fear that this software will break with each new version of this browser, but I hope that my $10 will help contribute to the author's interest in putting out patches quickly. [alert admin]

SurgeMail rocks. This is what messaging server software should be. Fast, compact and incredibly scalable. The tech support is outstanding. Performance is amazing. The cool thing is, that you can use the identical software as a personal mail server on your workstation, or you can scale it to IPS-class mirrored systems offering tens or hundreds of thousands of accounts. KidsGoGoGo X 8.1 (Mac OS X)
Five stars if they published an unscrambled version of their URL blacklist. You know, all the juicy ones... [alert admin]

SideTrack 0.8 (Mac OS X)
This driver works flawlessly on my TiBook. I have gotten so used to it, I can't imagine life with it. I hope Apple licenses the software and includes it in 10.3.4 - the functionality should have been there since 10.0. I will happily pay up my shareware fee once the author feels like the beta period is over. [alert admin]
