WindowShade X 4.2b1 (Mac OS X)

Funky Behavior in 10.4.11

Just can't get it to work in Tiger. Minimize-in-Place is set to load on the right side, from the top, but it loads on the left side, and, when I click on it, it disappears! If I go to the dock and open from there, nothing happens. Of course, it could be me...has been a lot of times before, but WS worked perfectly before updating to this beta. New beta APE installed, and restarted after every installation of the new betas, along with checking permissions each time. Other Unsanity betas seem to work OK, except that Fruitmenu beta was installed in an activated state, and I had deactivated it before installation of the beta because I use FinderPop instead. I could not deactivate FM upon restart. Solution: Temporarily deactivated FP, then deactivated FM, reactivated FP, restarted, and all was well. Guess I need to bite the bullet and install Leopard. I have been waiting for the Unsanity updates and the betas seem to work well in 10.5.2... [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 7.4.2 (Mac OS X)

What's Next?

Not allowing us to copy our non-iTunes Store, yet owned and legal, mp3s to iPods? This is just plumb ______' ridiculous. I love the idea of a 'light' version so the rest of us (hmmm that sounds familiar...) can go about our business while Apple pursues its greed issues with iPhone users/hackers elsewhere. Apple Mac OS X Intel 10.4.9 (Mac OS X)

No Problems Here...

Permissions before and after. Did the double restart thing. Restarted a third time manually and did Applejack. Everything's a bit zippier even with all my haxies, and all peripherals are working fine (USB/Firewire stuff - I've got a lot of 'em). Have Macmini 1.66 dual with 2G memory. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X PPC 10.4.8 (Mac OS X)

Very Smooth Update

This update has eliminated a lot of the wackiness I was experiencing with 10.4.7. Everything seems much more stable on my G3 B&W 800 MHz (Yes, I am waiting for the miniMac to get a dedicated video card!) Anyway, good going Apple (so far). [alert admin]

PowerLogix CPU Director 2.0b1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Won't Install Support Files

Can't even start the dang thing, and, yes, I have 10.4.1. Oh well, I guess the first beta is always junk. Just write when you offer something you can actually install. I have the B&W 800 Mhz card, so it may be just me. [alert admin]

Apple Security Update 2005-003 (Mac OS X)

Anyone Getting This?

I repaired permissions after installing from Software Update. Here's what I got: Determining correct file permissions. We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays. New permissions are 16893 We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./Library/ColorSync/Profiles. New permissions are 16893 We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./System/Library/Filesystems/cd9660.fs/cd9660.util. New permissions are 33261 We are using a special uid for the file or directory ./private/var/at/jobs. New uid is 1 We are using a special uid for the file or directory ./private/var/at/spool. New uid is 1 The privileges have been verified or repaired on the selected volume Permissions repair complete Is this what everyone else is getting? Seems like each new update adds a new 'special permissions' or two, this time relative to ColorSync. Thanks for any comments. Everything's working fine, by the way... [alert admin]

Speed Download 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Thanks for the free update!

Just one little quirk so far, otherwise just great! When using SD 3 to download in Safari, a temp web page comes up announcing that the file has been sent to SD and to click to return to the previous page. To me, it's pretty obvious when SD 3 has taken over, and it has always been so. Why add another click to the routine when it seems unnecessary. In the past, it just reverted to the previous page automatically. Maybe I'm missing something. It's just a little annoyance, but an annoyance nevertheless. [alert admin]

iClip 3.4.2 (Mac OS X)

The Very Best!!

I have used this app for months now, and each update adds new functionality, not 'bloat'. It does a simple job very elegantly and that's it. Used to use CopyPaste, but it had tons of features I never used and didn't play well with my system or other apps. iClip is perfect and unobtrusive. [alert admin]

Still not beta 3 compatible

Have you removed Safari from your ShapeShifter exclude list? I'd added it, and was intitially disappointed. Then, found Safari in the exclude list and got rid of it. Shapeshifter in Safari ever since...

Alternative that's easier

Thanks, but, since I have never used Automator for anything, when I did what you said, it wants to know a specific place to which to move the selected Finder items. The Windoze function allows you to copy or cut any files from anywhere and move it to whereever you want using paste. This is very handy functionality, much more so than what you seem to be proposing. Since I know nothing about Automator, I…

To be fair, it is semi-freeware, and is almost completely functional except for a few extras and a paper tape.

I Love This...

I totally agree here. My grad students in health care finance use the free version and many end up buying the license, especially for the paper tape. And, yes, the manual is an absolute must for newbies.
