DiscBlaze 5.1.5 (Mac OS X)

Further info on free/pro to trial change for those interested

To all those who are displeased with the change to the "trial" system from the "free/pro" system, I completely understand and am sorry that the change had to occur. We've had an open dialog going on with our users for the last month to decide the best way for DiscBlaze to go. The overwhelming concensus (among users) was that we should go with a standard shareware "Trial" sort of system where users could try and use all features. (You can see some of the conversations about this topic in our forum.) I would have loved to keep a free version of DiscBlaze going... but it just didn't work out (we couldn't afford it and still continue to develop DiscBlaze). But, as always, we are open to all users feedback. Feel free to post your thoughts here, in our forum or via email to support at radicalbreeze.com [alert admin]

DiscBlaze 5.0 (Mac OS X)

To ulyssesric_dotmac, Re : Upgrade Price ?

I think you miss-understand. Allow me to explain things: You purchased a license for DiscBlaze 3.x. Some time later we released 4.x, our first (and so far only) update that we asked users to pay for (2.0, 3.0 and 5.0 have all been free updates). We offered incredibly cheap discounts for existing 3.x users to upgrade to 4.x for almost a year. Sent out several emails letting all existing users know of the discount and even included information on the discount in several releases of DiscBlaze 4.x and on our website. The license for DiscBlaze changed during the 4.4 release. So now almost all functions of DiscBlaze are free for everyone without limitation. We offer a handful of the more advanced features as an upgraded, for pay, "Pro" version. Any existing 4.x customer automatically gets access to all those Pro features without needed to pay any upgrade price. In fact DiscBlaze 5.0 Pro is a free upgrade for existing 4.x and Pro customers as well. We recently stopped offering the discounted 3.x to 4.x upgrade from our online store... well... because we thought everyone who wanted to upgrade already had. Though if there are still 3.0 users who wish to upgrade to 4.x/5.x then we can add this option again for a while. Toss us an email with your info and we'll get you setup. [alert admin]

DiscBlaze 4.4.4 (Mac OS X)

To donageneral: re no help files

You can find a PDF manual for DiscBlaze here : http://www.radicalbreeze.com/blaze/DiscBlazeManual.pdf As to why DiscBlaze "refused to burn" for you... if you're still interested in using DiscBlaze drop us a line at support [at] radicalbreeze dot com with a little more information (what, exactly, you were trying to do, system info, etc) and we'll look at getting you up and running. Macabinet 1.8.1 (Mac OS X)

To Robulak

Take note that you can have as many Macabinet folder presets (pointing to any location) as you want. So I'm not sure how that "Conflicts with Mac OS architecture". Your point about aliases is a good one though and is something that is in the works for Macabinet 2. [alert admin]

DiscBlaze 4.3.7 (Mac OS X)

Coming Updates

DiscBlaze VCD functionality was delayed (twice). This was very unfortunate, but necessary. It's worth noting that DiscBlaze 5.0 has been in development for quite some time and has a pretty hefty set of new features. Keep an eye on the Radical Breeze blog for info as it's released : http://www.radicalbreeze.com/blog/ [alert admin]

DiscBlaze 4.3.7 (Mac OS X)

Theodoric: re support

It is very likely that our reply messages were not delivered appropriately. The hosting company we have been using for our website seems to have been blocked by just about every spam blocking service in existance at this point. We are in the process, at this very moment, of moving to a new dedicated server that should solve this. Our appologies for the problems you have had, hopefully we will be able to effectively communicate shortly and can get any issues you have resolved. [alert admin]

DiscBlaze 4.3.1 (Mac OS X)

To mr silver surfer:

Of course we test our software (to suggest otherwise is just plain silly). This update to DiscBlaze included a small number of very minor changes. The reason we released it so quickly after the last update was that one of those changes was requested by two users and we didn't want to make them wait. [alert admin]

Macabinet 1.7.6 (Mac OS X)

To Mojolive:

Our registration processing system was having some hiccups over the weekend (and early Monday morning) causing a few delays (no more than a few hours) in getting registration info sent out. But it, it looks like your registration info was sent to you within about 8 hours of when you registered. My appologies for any trouble the small delay may have caused. [alert admin]

DiscBlaze 4.2.4 (Mac OS X)

To poelchau

Could you send some detailed info about your setup (os version, what sort of burner you have, how many burners, what sort of disc you were trying to burn, etc) to blaze at radicalbreeze.com? The problems you mention are ones we have not seen (and have not been reported by our users). But if they are happening to you we would certainly like to find out why and fix the trouble. Growl notifications

Could you send an email to support[at]discblaze.com with your system info (version of Growl, OS version, Intel/PPC, etc). Growl notifications are working here, but there was a fix for one problem with Growl notifications in the 6.1.6 build that could have broken this (though I'm not sure just yet why it would be broken for some and not others). Thanks.

... it has many features that even QT Pro does not

Realtime playback effects. Transparent playback windows. Searchable movie list thumbnail view. A smaller, less cluttered interface. QuickTime Pro doesn't have those features... but Footlights does. While there are many features coming to Footlights (some of which I don't think anyone has ever seen in a video player) it is already a very feature rich video playback (and exporting) application. Heck, how many video players let you free rotate your playing video…

10.4 provides additional functionality

There are some features that simply cannot be done (or done in a timely fashion) under 10.3. That is why 10.4 is required. DiscBlaze 5.1 is still available for download from radicalbreeze.com and sitll functions under 10.3.x if you wish to keep using 10.3.

We generally reply within 24 hours

If you have sent questions to us that have not received a reply in a relatively prompt fashion (48 hours or so depending on the question(s)), then something is wrong. Either we never received your emails or our responses are not getting to you. Typically spam filters are the culprit. If this happens I recommend trying to use a different email account if you have one available, or checking the spam filter settings on…

Usability

We really do respond within 24 hours almost always (there are rare occasions like when there is an illness going around, etc where this may be longer of course). If you did not get a response from us there is most definitely something wrong. Check and make sure that you are sending your mail to the right address (support or webmaster [at] radicalbreeze.com). Most problems we run into with users not getting responses are…

Except...

1) Performing most functions is considerably faster using DiscBlaze than the built in OS tools (erasing a CDRW for example). 2) All the functions are immediately available in one application. 3) You can create audio CD's with different pre-gaps for each track (can't do that with iTunes). 4) You can create custom hybrids (CDs with some files visible on the Mac, others only visible on the PC). (Can't do that in the Finder.) ... just off the top…

Wonderful Program

We didn't really have a choice on taking the support forum down. And, trust me when I say that we were very reluctant to do so as we have relied on the support forum for quite some time. Hopefully it will return. As for responding to emails... we do our best. Typically we respond to emails within about 24 hours (often much, much quicker). Lately we've gotten a little behind for a…

Perhaps we need to change the licensing

When we originally made DiscBlaze have a Free and Pro version we thought it would just be a nice thing to do. To give away a Free version of the app for those people who didn't really need (or want) to pay for a full featured burning application, but still could use having something a little more powerful than the Finder handy. But it is becoming pretty clear that it is just not working out.…

The free version offers quite a bit

Faster than burning with the Finder (no need to create copies of all the files prior to burn), keep and re-use disc layouts (without taking up a ton of hard drive space), Audio CD burning with per-track definable pre-gaps, quick access to CDRW erasing, etc. This is all available in the free version of DiscBlaze. The Pro version enables a few specific features (such as multi-session).

Check if you have an older version...

Make sure you don't have an older version of the DMG sitting on your machine (perhaps on your desktop). I just tripple checked and version 5.0.2 is no longer even on our servers. Also just had another person check and they verified that the download is 5.0.3.
