BlackBerry Desktop Manager 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Not feature rich, but does what it needs to do. ![]()

This would have been a great application 3 or more years ago. Although I had no problem using it for the first time on my Bell Canada BB Curve, it is not as feature rich as "The Missing Sync". It does update the BB software, can add/remove BB software, and it does back up the BB to my G5 desktop. I am surprised that the calendar sync does not seem to work any better than the Missing Sync, which is to say that I can only successfully replace data on the BB with the contents of my Mac. And lack of bluetooth support does not make this seem to be an up to date application. If you have The Missing Sync, this software will disappoint. But, it is absolutely necessary if you want to keep the BB up to date or put new applications on. The price is right. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 4.0b (Mac OS X)

Installing this beta sucked for me. It caused Mail to crash. Uninstall 4B and Mail works. Reinstall 4B and mail crashes. I would like the option of turning off cover flow. I have access to websites not available (in theory) to the general public and I am not impressed how a pict of it shows up. While it maybe a cool geeky feature, and fine for surfing alone at home, this feature is a privacy nightmare. Apple has some work to do on this before they can release it. IMHO, they should yank the public beta right now. [alert admin]

PandoCalendar 7.0.1 (Mac OS X)
This small little calendar does what it needs to do. Don't like the fact that it has Christian messages? Don't use it. It is a "small Christian claendar" and is very upfront about that. Works well. [alert admin]

CADintosh 5.3.2 (Mac OS X)
Until this programme can open .dwg files accurately, it cannot really replace a "commercial" application like TurboCAD. [alert admin]

FAXstf X Pro 10.7 (Mac OS X)
I've been using faxSTF since version 2. Smith Micro bought the original software developer and seems intent on producing Mac software as an afterthought. Many of the features that I had found useful from earlier versions were dropped as Smith Micro "developed" this software. The jump to a native OS X version stripped out many useful features for me. Support is only so so. The jump to 10.7 is NOT a free upgrade, despite there apparently being no new features. This is a pass. [alert admin]

Glossary of International Banking & Finance 9984921700 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Unless you read/write Russian AND you are in International Finance/Banking/Moneylaundering, the Glossary is a complete waste of bandwidth/HD space. It is a PDF file, not helpful for us in N. America. [alert admin]

DesktopCalendar 0.7b1 (Mac OS X)
I love the idea of this app and having a calendar on my desktop. But I can't really give this software 2 thumbs up. I find that the software does that it wants as far as positon goes. I keep putting where I want it, but after a reboot, it goes back to its default. Also, there is no contact information with the software for product feedback. There is not a manual, but that is not a big worry. This product has a lot of potential, but would not be ready for sale. But being free, one can hardly complain. [alert admin]
