MPlayer 2.0b8r5 (Mac OS X)

Sneaky indeed!

I was using my old G4, which had the "proper" version of MPlayer, not this silly MPlayer 2 that I stumbled upon. MPlayer 2 can't handle WMV files, while MPlayer runs them like a charm. Avoid MPlayer 2, that's my opinion. [alert admin]

BitRocket 0.3.3 (Mac OS X)

USELESS in all versions!

1) First: tried latest version of BitRocket. Opened fine, crashed when opening a torrent. RIIIIGHT. 2) Heard that it might help to trash prefs file. Did that, tried again: same result. 3) Went to BitRocket site, only version offered for download was the latest one. Undeterred, I found and manually entered the URL of the "releases" directory. Decided to humor myself and downloaded all versions in the directory (about 10 or so). 4) Tried running each and every version (remembering to trash prefs each time). They all did one of two things: i. didn't open at all! or ii. crashed on trying to open a torrent 5) Went to BitRocket site, registered at forum in the hopes of mentioning this debacle. Registration was validated. Logged in, then tried to post in their forum. Guess what: got the following error message every place I tried to post: "Sorry, you do not have permission to reply to that topic" WTF is that all about??!! [alert admin]

MaxBulk Mailer 4.4.2 (Mac OS X)

MaxBulk and Tiger

Well, I recently upgraded to Tiger from Panther (after HD wipe), then got one of my most needed apps reinstalled: MaxBulk Mailer that is. I could NOT believe the performance boost this program got from the Tiger upgrade! A colleague had recommended I do so, and I was skeptical because I thought Panther was pretty fast. Well I'm glad I listened, because MaxBulk runs a LOT faster now. Besides this, overall I recommend MaxBulk because it is the most reliable mass mailer I have found (have tried IntelliMerge, MailDrop, DirectMail etc.) [alert admin]

Sneaky indeed!

Meant to say, I got all excited when I saw how nicely MPlayer the original handles WMV files, so I went to my Intel Mac Mini and downloaded MPlayer 2, not realizing it was not the same program!! How silly to keep the same name I thought... but that's MHO.

It deleted my lists

Re: deletion of files: what I meant to say was, the devs really should implement the sending of files to the Trash instead of permanent erasure.

Man, I'm really sorry to say this, but I can't believe you didn't back up your lists for a couple of years..... now having said that, MaxBulk's deletion feature should send files to the Trash and not permanently erase them, so your ire does not fall on deaf ears.
