Adobe Shockwave Player 11.0.0r465 (Mac OS X)
Download page is for Windows version
Clicking on "Download" brings up a download for Windows. I can not find a way to download Shockwave Player 11.0.0.465 for Macintosh. [alert admin]

PDFMergeX 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Very easy to use, with an excellent interface. However, the file it produces does not seem to be a .pdf file, is listed as "Document" with Get Info, and seems to be openable in its entirety only by Adobe Reader. Preview can not open the merged file. Under Finder/Open With, mainly graphic programs are suggested, and they open only the first page. I'm going to stick with PDFCombine, which does output a pdf file openable in Preview and is also very easy to use. [alert admin]

Clipper 1.1 (Mac OS X)
Great concept but I can't get it to work
I can't figure out how to get it to paste into TextEdit; for me the history size preference always goes back to 10 after a restart (unlike for pfrit); and when Clipper is running, command-V from the keyboard will not paste anything into TextEdit. For all the above reasons, a help or readme file is desperately needed. [alert admin]

Java Embedding Plugin 0.8.6 (Mac OS X)
Prevented Norton Antivirus Live Update 3.0.1 (a Java application) from working; got error message "Parts of Live Update are Missing". Deleting the two plugins of Java Embedding Update from /Library/Internet Plugins and restarting did not restore Live Update's activity. I had to completely delete all of Norton Antivirus and re-install; then Live Update worked again. [alert admin]

I've just had the same problem: the notes disappeared twice, both times under Snow Leopard (but never before). Luckily, I could restore the notes from a backup. After the disappearance happened a second time, I restored the notes again and then locked the file (go to Home/Library/Application Support/Sidenote/"your notes", click on Get Info, and select locked). SMART Utility - it DOES find a faulty drive
I had a similar experience as that reported by dcollett: a flaky hard drive was reported as OK by both SMARTReporter and Disk Utility but as failing by SMART Utility. An hour later SMARTReporter and Disk Utility reported the drive to be failing, while SMART Utility reported it as failed. I had the same problem of Retrospect quitting immediately after launch. I traced the problem in my case to the freeware "Classic Window Management" version 1.0 I upgraded to version 1.1, and Retrospect now launches correctly.
