Linksys BEFW11S4 v1 1.44.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I couldn't get my modem to recognize my puters until I set the modem to listen for requests from DNS 192.168.1.1 which is the device ID number for the Linksys router. Now the connection to the internet of my home network consisting of an iMac and a PC works just fine. The Linksys router is connected by a cable to the iMac. The PC has a Netgear USB wireless card that links that puter to the router. I'm using PC-Mac-Net Fileshare Lite to share files between the puters. [alert admin]

WinMX 3.3.1 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
The Mac OS equivalent of WinMX is Drumbeat. They both tap into the napster network. Both provide a high percentage of good hits. Unfortunately, Drumbeat costs$$$. [alert admin]

Yahoo! Messenger 2.5.3 (Mac OS 9)
It's locking up on me as well on OS 9.2.2 on an iMac. After thrashing version 2.5.2 in order to install this new useless version, I was able to find and reinstall version 2.5.2 by doing a google search for "Yahoo Messenger 2.5.2" and clicking on the cached link to the Yahoo site that is listed first in the search results. However, version 2.5.2 is now crashing as well. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, and cleaning out the preferences all to no avail. I hope it's Yahoo's server or their new protocols that are the problem. [alert admin]

WaMCom 20030710 (Mac OS 9)
Thanks to "Hirotoshi Harunaga and his posse in Japan and worldwide." What an excellent feature packed browser. Please port the newer versions of Mozilla to OS 9. Pretty please, with sugar on top. I'm using it now instead of IE. [alert admin]

WaMCom 1.3.1 (Mac OS 9)
I'm glad someone ported this to OS 9. It's working fine for me. Renders pages with a ton of graphics much faster than IE. Better cookie manager and password manager than IE. Still can't get the Java Applet to work in Yahoo Chat but the ChitChat standalone client gives me access to those chats. http://chit.sourceforge.net/ Wish it would support shared menus. iMac 333 ppc using OS 9.2.2 [alert admin]

In OS 9.x this program won't work unless you have one of the Disk Copy 6.5 Betas. With a little effort you can find a copy of one of the betas on the web or through hotline. [alert admin]

versions of this program have worked fine for me on an iMac using OS 9.2.2. I figured out how to use it intuitively which is always a big plus in my book. The multiple windows are unusual but I can deal with that, especially since it's a free program. The pricey Drumbeat program may have a nicer interface but I don't care about that as much as whether the program works well. I think I have my bases covered, for free, with this baby and iSwipe. Brownie points to the developer for dedication despite some rather mean early reviews. [alert admin]
