MoneyWell 1.3.3 (Mac OS X)
Just converted from Quicken. A definite step up. UI is the best I've seen. I don't dread working on my finances anymore. If you need more than a checkbook, a budgeting aid, this is a very good choice. As far as speed, no problem for me on a rev A macbook. It seems fine to me. I imported the past two year's data, about 1.5Mb, and speed isn't an issue. [alert admin]

FinancesOSX 2.3a (Mac OS X)
Very handy calculator. It's not a big bloated app that does things you don't need. It is well suited for quick calculations and helping you fill in spreadsheets without a bunch of overhead that gets in the way of actually working on your family budget. Providing freeware apps like this one is a great service to Mac users and I greatly appreciate it. [alert admin]

Smultron 3.3 (Mac OS X)
This is as good a programmer's editor as there is out there, free or not. I'm a heavy vi/vim user, and this is the only other editor that I use for code. (I wish gvim and smultron could be merged together somehow. But I'm not complaining, this is a great tool as is.) [alert admin]

Xfolders 1.5 (Mac OS X)
response is quite slow working with network drives. I'll have to stick with the CLI, I suppose. Otherwise, I do like the implementation. For local drive only it is very nice. One thing seems not so Finder-like, dragging a file from a network drive to a local or different network drive, moves the file instead of copying it as the default. [alert admin]

SPICE. Matches anything that is free on PC or unix. Text editor is limited, but you can use vi or whatever instead. Essentially the command-line unix implementation, but the graphing commands work well. More than you can ask for free. [alert admin]
