Wallet 2.5.1 (Mac OS X)
Bought this to replace a complex database I wrote in Filemaker Developer. Too bloated, slow to open, so bought this small mammal. Works pretty well. No crashes, nothing unexpected. Suggestions: When a date field is specified it would be excellent if a little data picker could pop up - pretty siure there are cocoa bits and bobs to do this nowadays. Recommended. [alert admin]

Diabetes Logbook X 1.1.0 (Mac OS X)
All previous accolades are apposite. The only need is for some regular measure of weight, tummy circumference or other measure that may be useful to type II diabetics. The programme is geared towards Type I at present. [alert admin]

Diet Diary 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Having tried to write all this in FMPro developer (and gave up), this programme is very good. It accepts SI and imperial units (so the rest of the world can use it). However, as expected the database is US-centric. The only thing that would be good is if there were an open customisable field for extra daily data, such as fasting BSL for diabetes. Otherwise seems to work fine without a flaw after 3 days. [alert admin]

MOTU Digital Performer 4.5 (Mac OS X)
Can this version handle multichannel AU yet? eg, with battery, you can assign each instrument to its own output (meaning input into Logic) channel. With DP 4.1 x you can only deal with AUs as stereo. If they haven't fixed it, I will say bye bye and convert my son to Logic too. (sad but true, especially considering Log 7). [alert admin]

FileChute 1.7.1 (Mac OS X)
we have use dthis with (a) ftp-based site (b ) a recently acquired ,Mac account. Once we had figured out the arcane rules of our ISP (took a while) Filechute worked without once sruffing up (2) iDisk - bloody hell - why didn't someone tell us that is was so easy! Filecute set up in 23.7 nsecs and works without error. Use it everyday and although I could (and used to) do things the old way with ftp sites etc, this should be built into OSX, except it's too stable for Apple:-) [alert admin]

iPartition 1.06 (Mac OS X)
iPartition but iPartiallyFormat ![]()

The partitioning works as advertised (you actually have to buy it to get it to work). However, my dreams of splitting an external firewire into a HFS+ and a FAT32 partition went unrewarded. It creates the partitions but can't format a partition in any Windoze format :( [alert admin]

SQLiteManager 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I find it very useful for playing with SQ!Lite datastructures etc outside of RealBasic which we use as a front-end. For the price, I would be hoping for some tweaks to come, but will lay the $ down based on the betas. [alert admin]

Romeo 0.9.2 (Mac OS X)
I started using this for fun, now I use it it in my lectures and presentations all over the world. Mind you, I converted from Director to Keynote to do so, and it has been worth it. Goodness, I would have paid money for such a stable little app that does exactly what it says. Only problem I've found is that occassionaly my powerbook loses contact (even when within 30 feet) and I have to relog in to get the phone to recognise romeo again (t68). Anyhow, recommended. Valentina for REALbasic 1.9.8b7 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
The examples do not really translate well if you're coming from a background like FMPro developer. In fact without better examples for 1 to many tables, it is very frustrating. Please note - this is a beginner speaking (when it comes to Valentina). Good support though. [alert admin]

Ritmo 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I tried (and then bought) this whilst waiting for Battery to be ported to AU. It is really easy to use and integrates very well with Logic 6. It does not have velocity switching etc, only one sample per instrument. It lacks the ability (AFAICT) to save a kit's samples when a kit is saved - this would be handy, and for this reason only, one star off. There is an on-line forum and the developer responds really quickly. [alert admin]
