Detour 1.5.5 (Mac OS X)
Since this is not Intel-compatible, and the developer has apparently abandoned it, some enterprising developer out there ought to make a new product to take over this niche. Either that, or these guys ought to open-source Detour. Or Apple ought to fix their model of how sound volume and routing is handled, to make products such as this unnecessary (perhaps the best option). Anyone? Anyone? [alert admin]

R-Name 3.0 (Mac OS X)
There are lots of renaming utilities out there, and I can't claim to have looked at every one. But one's download link was broken, one crashed every time for me on 10.1.4, etc. etc. This one actually works, and it does a good job; took me about 30 seconds from when I double-clicked the .dmg to when I was done with the renaming task I needed to do. Brilliant. I'm not rating support, docs or features since I didn't really look at them much. [alert admin]

Skeleton Key 2.0b2 (Mac OS X)
Doesn't seem to work on 10.4.1; is that other folks' experience too? [alert admin]

Solarian II 1.1 (Mac OS X)
(Developer) A very helpful user, Alan Wolfe, has just tracked down the keyboard problem some people have seen in Solarian II. It is an incompatibility with iClock; iClock is eating keystrokes that should go to Solarian, and that messes up the game. Just quit iClock before starting to play. It is possible that some other "background" software might cause similar problems with Solarian; if anybody finds any other examples, please let us know at Stick Software. Thanks! [alert admin]

Version 1.4 fixed all known issues of this kind. If you see a bug, please report it to us at Stick Software so we can track it down and fix it. Thanks!

(Developer) This is a bit unfair; PhotoReviewer uses as much RAM as you tell it that it is allowed to, in its Preferences. Set the limit as low (or as high) as you want. Giving PhotoReviewer more memory allows it to keep more images in memory, and thus be more responsive in its display. Choose whatever point in that trade-off you like.

I've put a separate comment up, but just to cover all the bases I'll comment here too. This is due to the bad behavior of other software running at the same time; one user found that iClock was to blame, and quitting iClock fixes the problem. Other apps may cause similar problems, if they try to take control of the machine during a game or try to intercept keystrokes; it is recommended that…

The download link seems OK to me, but if not, try one of the alternate download links. Three different websites, they can't all be down. :-)

Well, after some head-scratching, I figured out what I presume to be the bug this user encountered. It will only bite users on multiple-monitor systems, which is why nobody had encountered it except this user. It will be fixed in Jiggler 1.1. The point remains that this would have been much easier to debug with help from the user; please contact us with bug reports, folks!

*Please* contact us with bugs before posting negative reviews, folks. We're more than happy to work with users to resolve issues. Without the user communicating with us, we can't investigate a bug to discover the cause. Given that nobody has reported this problem, I suspect it's a problem with this particular user's machine, and may not actually be related to Jiggler at all; but there's just no way to tell without any…

As usual, I could have easily helped this user through the problem, but as usual, they never contacted me, instead posting a nasty review without ever trying out my support. Sigh. This is a straightforward problem, and it is Apple's bug, not mine. PhotoReviewer uses the standard Cocoa image engine to read photos from disk. That engine sometimes crashes, and there's nothing PhotoReviewer can do about that. The first image…
