Apple iTunes 7.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Amazing Sound

I don't know what Apple did in this version, but the sound is utterly awesome. How such sound can come out of these little G3 built-in speakers is beyond me. I hardly need my $400 dollar headphones with iTunes running. Everything is so crystal clear, it is as if I can see the instruments right in front of me: Glockenspiele are no longer tinny, Kettle drums do not rattle, and piccolos do not disappear. I have stopped using my separate stereo system for my CDs, since this is just as good and so much more convenient. I would ignore the ridiculous reviews below. Microsoft et al, has a paid army of reviewers and web-rumorists to spread libel online. They call it "plausible deniability." I call it jealousy. Now if Apple could only add a Preference to revert the UI to match Apple's other programs in Panther, such as Safari, I would be completely satisfied -- and will give 5 stars. But man, the sound sure is good! [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 7.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Minor Problems, Ugly Interface

If I press rewind or play to start a song over before it finishes, it will start over fine, but it will also begin the next song in the play list at the same time. Also, I can't stand the wet cement theme. I would prefer it to look like the rest of Apple's programs, with blue gelatin sliders, brushed metal, and so forth. The wet cement look looks bad and it matches nothing. OS 10.3.9 up to date. [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 7.0 (Mac OS X)

Works fine ugly XP interface

Version works fine for me (OS 10.3.9) but I dislike the Windows XP interface. I bought a Mac and I want it to look like one. Apple MUST give us an option to revert to brushed metal, rounded corners, and aqua blue sliders! This XP theme looks like cheap concrete waiting to dry. I guess it would look good on my mom's Dell. Xounds 2.4 (Mac OS X)

No customer service

When this program crashes your system and forces you to troubleshoot for a week and call Apple, you will try three things: (1) Delete everything on your harddrive by [unsanity]; (2) Abandon your user space; (3) Reinstall OS X. Now read the hyserical and verbally abusive comments from [unsanity]. Would you install OS software from him? Since the last commenter neglected to give a rating for this, I will. [alert admin]

Xounds 2.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Does not work - at all

This is an alpha version. Unsanity wants you to download this version so that you can tell them what's wrong with it. They do this with every major release: they remove the old version that worked, release a new alpha or beta version, and post raving reviews for themselves (typically, they say it's 'great to have sounds back'). Now customers might have figured it out before this release. However, Unsanity advertised that this was a minor revision of the previous version, not a major release of an alpha version that will partially disable the OS. Don't download it. This version does not work, and will shut off all Apple's UI sounds but Alert and Drag to Trash. Who knows what else it does. Uninstalling does not undo Xounds' damage. Take heart, though. Xounds is great when it works. Unsanity will eventually have a working version to download. Expect it before the end of the year. Or maybe not. [alert admin]

Amazing Sound

iTunes is free. To download iTunes, go back to the top of the Review page -- that's the page you came from to get here. At the upper right corner of the page are the words "Download Now" and a big massive arrow. Click on the words or the arrow. That's it.

Customer service?

There we go. Now everyone knows what great support they will get from [unsanity]. Believe all two hundred of us you have been verbally abusing have troubleshooted. And troubleshooted again. Console says the problem is [unsanity]. Apple says it's [unsanity]. Apple will no longer honor our service agreement until I uninstalled everything by [unsanity]. I did. And looking at Andreas' other hysterical comments here, I'd say we have here a one-man angerpot! Now it's…

The sound of SHOUTING

Version 2.3.1 didn't work either. My system is still a little tweaked from it. There ought to be better customer support than calling your paying customer names and recommending psychological help after your program caused so much damage.

need to access Dock

In the new version 3.2, it is now easy to switch back and forth between Fullscreen and default. Apple suppresses the Dock when screen is filled.

Access Dock...

This is no longer necessary with the current version, since it is so easy to switch back and forth from Fullscreen to default.
