TAO 1.1b25c (Mac OS X)

Good app, annoying management

Yes, just to chime in - I've bought this, I use it occasionally, I think it's good design. But the betas are getting a bit insane... twenty-five betas reaching over months now, and no solid version since - well I don't have clear records when that was but it's been a very long time. Incidentally, when I run a program that takes unneeded languages and architecture off my Powerbook, this is one of the only programs that stops running and needs to be re-downloaded. Any chance of separating the language and architecture files so this doesn't happen?... [alert admin]

Boswell 4.0.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

And the price...

And - I forgot in my comment to point out the most unpleasant thing about this program, which is the price. It's about twice what most comparable programs cost - and, although the base concept *might* be different and more useful than those other programs, it doesn't seem to reflect quite enough careful and polished detail work. Boswell 4.0.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Hmmm...

A bit surprised at the unattractive, old-fashioned (and not in a Boswellian sense) look of the program. I see what the commenter meant, who said this was a Classic program - no, of course it's not using Classic code, but it looks like a Classic program, and the various documents are messy as in a Classic program. (Why isn't this just in an OS X package?...) More importantly: having lately bought DevonThink Pro and worked through a number of other popular text organization programs, I see what the Boswell people mean when they say (in their documentation) that databases aren't really what a writer needs. However, is it possible to put together some of these Boswell concepts with a more polished and streamlined interface and appearance? That's what I've been looking for... doesn't exist yet, as far as I can tell. Sigh... [alert admin]

Sunday comic reduced to weekday size, therefore unreadable. [alert admin]

Full Color Bossa 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

really beautiful

Nice to have a simple, graceful screensaver that doesn't concentrate on big flashy pictures that look like advertisements - just shimmering, allusive silhouettes in a variety of subtle colors. And yes, the colors *are* exotic in themselves - when you study color theory you realize how polished and subtle Japanese contemporary graphics are... this emphasizes something way beyond the 'usual 256 colors' that bore us all so much. iLiner 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Demo won't demo

Program refuses to start this without a registration number, so it's impossible to try it out... [alert admin]

Gaston 1.0.1b (Mac OS X)

beautiful.

Very elegant, very clean, very complete for what it's intended to do. I'm no graphic designer, but this allowed me to make complex, mysteriously beautiful objects almost instantly... [alert admin]

A GREAT app. But one problem....

Although you didn't mention them, it's the Mail Downloads and Temporary & Obsolete Items that can immensely slow it down. Don't know why - on one of my computers it still does that, but the other's fine. And it doesn't hang completely - if you leave it for a long time it will finally finish the process.
