AnoniSurf 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Works as it says

Very good little addendum. Interesting to see how the favourite sites just don't recognise you. Quite how useful it is I dont know, apart from knowing you can be invisible if you so choose. [alert admin]

Save Your Screen 1.1 (Mac OS X)

ouch!

First time ever I lost some "data" installing beta software. Installed the app, played around with it - does a pretty good job of showing all images, full screen is nice - then couldnt unmount, so i repaired permissions, logged out, logged back in and my iTunes library was wiped. Fans are running a good one too despite no apparent cpu usage. Live and learn. [alert admin]

Haxial TextEdit 1.610 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

UI is important, really

The app works fine but I have uninstalled it. At the risk of being ignored as a Mac bigot, I use OS X because there is a protocol for the GUi and designers of associated apps seem to adhere to that protocol. As a Mac OS X user, every new app I launch has a theme I recognise immediately, I understand which menus to look at in the ubiquitous menu bar in order to find my way around. I feel comfortable with what Apple designers have "forced" me to use, and I am afraid I dont feel comfortable with an interface that takes me straight back to Windows, where quite frankly, GUI designers just dont seem to quite get it. The developer should take a look at this site http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ and get a feeling for how many thousands of developers have willingly adopted the Mac OS X way of displaying things. If you want to say unconventional things in Mac land, maybe wear conventional clothes first! [alert admin]

TurboTool 2.3 (Mac OS X)

I wish I understood it better!

I am a big fan of Services - Cocoa gestures uses them brilliantly for all in one copy/paste/application switching - but the explanatory notes for this software arent user friendly enough for someone like me who glazes over at the mention of shell scripts and applescripts. Maybe later! [alert admin]

iTMS Extractor 1.0 (Mac OS X)

let Playlist Player do the rest

I guess compared with what Applescripts could do, this app, although it functions perfectly, suddenly seems very longwinded. However, once you have a few videos in stock, put them to good use and download Playlist Player http://www.mh1.de/software/index.html and for free as well, have full screen continuous or shuffled video playlists a la MTV. DOT-PHOTOS 1.0b9 (Mac OS X)

It shows photos on Safari page, then what?

It generates a thumbnail page which opens individual images very nicely. Excellent in fact. But, the address is local to my machine, so how do I get to share the photos? [alert admin]

OCSmart Hacks b.2 (Mac OS X)

Watch SystemUIServer

I love what it can do, but I am not sure it didnt affect CPU usage on SystemUIServer. From 17% to 0 when I uninstalled it. Is that a coincidence? If it should have no affect on this process and someone can convince me I have a problem elsewhere, I will reinstall this app, because it is really nifty, if only to show how deep OS X can still go. Movie Montage 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Wow! The missing link in iLife

It seems to do exactly what it says with consummate ease - as long as you only pick a Quicktime movie folder it will quickly display thumbnails (of up to 100 apparently) movies per page, and you just put the cursor in a thumbnail of a movie and it plays instantly. Impressed. It goes ballistic if you try select any format other than mpeg, and hangs and gobbles up way too much processor and has to be force quit. If it could just ignore non mpegs without this behaviour, great, and if it could display .avis and so on, that would be really cool. [alert admin]

Birthday Reminder 1.1b3 (Mac OS X)

Not too hot

If I edited the birth date and pressed enter, the whole address book list would show, which is OK I guess. I would then reload page and the new birth date would have somehow duplicated itself in the following persons birthday field, but worst of all it changed the original address book entry.
