Roxio Crunch 1.0 (Mac OS X)

I like it

I personally like Crunch. It's a little expensive at $50, but I was able to get it for less $40 and took a chance. This does exactly what I need and the quality is not bad at all. It looks great on my HDTV and make converting Xvid and DivX files a snap. Converting my home movies also worked well. [alert admin]

Disco 1.0b4 (Mac OS X)

Don't waste disc trying to burn DVD-VIDEO

Don't even waste your time trying to burn a DVD VIDEO because they still can't get it right. You will just get a disc that won't play correctly on DVD Players. This just goes to show how little the developers really now about burning. They need to stick to making icons and save the programming for real coders. [alert admin]

Disco 1.0b3 (Mac OS X)

Not impressed so far

I had high hopes for this app after all the hype on their blog, but after it finally got released and I was able to try it, I've very disappointed. It is very unintuitive and the way they have added audio buring and erasing has just made the product difficult to use. It doesn't burn playalbe DVD video, it can't span large files over a multiple discs and lacks many of the features that products like Discblaze have for about the same price. Plus, they ripped off the name. There is another burning app called Disc-o already. Not very original if you ask me. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18608 [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 6.1.1 (Mac OS X)

DiscBlaze doesn't burn iTMS EITHER!!

To mattbarry, obviously you haven't actually used DiscBlaze, or at least not listened to the disc after it was burned. All iTMS tracks are silent when burned with DiscBlaze. Which is better, having a coaster with DiscBlaze or notify the user before like Toast? Apple is blocking it, QT 7 blocked all Apps. You just don't know what you are talking about Toast 6.1.1 is working great again for me. 6.1 had some problems, but 6.1.1 seems very sold in 10.4.1 [alert admin]

NTI Dragon Burn X 4.1.20 (Mac OS X)

Update still doesn't work

I updated, but I still can't burn images under 10.3 or 10.4 and after I run Dragon Burn, images will no longer mount in the Finder!!!!! I have to reboot to get it to work again. This software never has worked, and they keep updating and don't fix the bugs that have been there for over a year [alert admin]

The Boom Box 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Great idea and very useful

This is really great. I've got tapes I want to get into iTunes and this is just what the "Doctor" called for. The price is cheap too since all the other apps cost almost $100 alone. So far I've used CD Spin Doctor, Audio Hijack and MusicMagic Mixer, and they work great for me. I highly recommend this for people that have an iPod or anyone who lovers their music like I do. Toast Titanium 6.1 (Mac OS X)

Thanks Apple, for blocking iTMS tracks again

Well, Apple broke the iTMS content with the QuickTime 7 update, so I don't think that was Roxio's fault. Apple wants to rule the world and is blocking everything from burning iTMS tracks. I suggest complaining to Apple. As for 6.1, it's working great for me. I'll just keep a version of 6.0.9 around on my old system so I can still extract my iTunes tracks :-) [alert admin]

In response to Sponge_bob below...

What an idiot. I've had 16x media for several months. Also most newer drives support 16x on 8x media anyway so that is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is DB does't work.

DVD Features

Nodis, you seem clueless. CaptyDVD sucks. It is slow and the quality is crap. DVDSP is $500 and only supports MPEG2 so SVCD and VCD are out. Sizzle is a joke. You want some technical info on Toast. Toast DVD are 8Mbps and encoded with a single pass VBR for 60 min and 5Mbps for single pass VBR for 90 minute. Content gets re-encoded if it is out…
