HandBrake 0.9.2 (Mac OS X)

Great

This is regarding 0.9.3 really. This software is great, I've been using it mostly lately for Netflix DVDs I want to watch later on the computer or iPhone. There's a bit of a learning curve when dealing with video, but the updated presets help a lot. It takes advantage of all 8 cores when converting video, which is a nice thing to see and of course speeds things up. [alert admin]

Chax 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)

Auto accept text chats

This program adds a new section to the iChat preferences. Among the other things it does, it lets you turn off the "Accept" button for new text chats, which is something I was looking for. [alert admin]

Works OK

Seems to work ok with 10.4.3. I have to manually drag the downloaded config files onto the Harmony app though. I haven't finished setting up all of my devices yet, but this version did communicate with the remote smoothly. [alert admin]

Azureus BitTorrent Client 2.2.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Launch problems

It wouldn't launch for me until I ran software update and installed Java 1.4.2 Update 2. After that, it was fine. [alert admin]

100% CPU for nothing

I've found that it isn't slow if it's working on a folder that doesn't have a lot of other files in it. IOW, I take all of the rar and par files for a particular par and put them into a new folder before running it. That way, it doesn't seem to waste any time looking at all the other downloads, trying to figure out if they're part of the RAR set.

why did it post my comment 2 times...

It happened to me the other day when posting a comment to my original post. I couldn't figure out how to delete the coments, so I ended up deleting the original post, which got rid of the comments too. So, you might as well delete one of your posts.

VPC 7- NetBarrier interaction

Thanks so much, I was about to start banging my head against the wall. FWIW, in my case, the problem cropped up in OS 10.4.4 and NB 10.4.4.

Strange...

I used to use BP on the PC a few years ago, and it was a solid performer. It does seem that their Mac efforts were half-hearted though.

No sound

There is some problem with G5s and VLC audio. I downloaded a custom version from the vlc forum and it fixed the audio problem for me, at least on the one file I was trying to play. See: http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=8028

Try DragThing

I agree. I hit 'PS' for Photoshop. I didn't like LB at first, but if you use it for a little while and train it for a few items that it doesn't pick up by itself, it really becomes indispensable.
