Apple iTunes 4.7 (Mac OS X)

Late

Apple, for some reason I will never ever understand, consistently updates VT before it updates softwareupdate, which is really annoying. As for iPod, check out the Apple Store online, iPod Photo is OUT ALREADY ! =D [alert admin]

NewsTicker 2.01 (Mac OS X)

Amazing ! and only 5 $

I love this app, always amazing, registered user here.

Problems with cpu hogging ? renice it permanently (shell commands):

$ cd /Applications/NewsTicker.app/Contents/MacOS/
$ mv NewsTicker NewsTicker_bin
$ pico NewsTicker

In that file enter the following, then hit Ctrl-X to quit and save:

#!/bin/tcsh
nice /Applications/NewsTicker.app/Contents/MacOS/NewsTicker_bin

Once you have quit pico, make sure you

chmod a+rx NewsTicker

This will cause the NewsTicker binary to start in what's called nice mode, which means it will re-prioritize itself to a lower CPU priority and leave more time for other apps. On a fast computer you probably won't even notice the slow-down in NewsTicker, but you likely will notice the slight speed-up in other apps.

Note : this isn't the developers "fault" since Apple should have an API set out for nice binaries...IMHO [alert admin]

NewsTicker 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Yes CPU hog but worth it !

Wow this app is amazing ! RSS creep along the top of my screen. Yes it's a bit of a CPU hog but that what renice is for. Speaking of which, a (preferences) menu item to renice NewsTicker to a specific value. I held my breath as I checked the registration price, since I was sure that would be the kicker for this otherwise great app but 5 $, wow ! Perfect ! [alert admin]

RapidWeaver 2.2.2 (Mac OS X)

Poor

2.2.2 update quits instantly when launched, how useful! (Mac OSX 7H63) I actually registered this app a while back because it looked useful; well, I was wrong. It's useful for making only extremely rudimentary sites. I also have a feeling that the changing to "Lite" means they'll be releasing a better version in the future, which will require a new license key. [alert admin]

Internet Connection Monitor 4.6 (Mac OS X)

hmm

So I see that, by your logic, being connected to a LAN (en0) is not to be connected to a network? BOOO !!!! [alert admin]

Internet Disconnector 1.9 (Mac OS X)

zero?

Is there an option to review with 0 stars? To the developer: this software is rediculous, you're emulating a built-in system preference with a shareware app! I hope this isn't your day job. :P [alert admin]

MSN Messenger 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Not a major upgrade

I agree that this is not a major version number upgrade. On the other hand it's not crap, I love MSN. It looks great, isn't puffed up with unecessary junk, and is pretty clean-cut. No webcam support sucks though. [alert admin]

AppleWorks X 6.2.9 (Mac OS X)

Can't print now

Whenever I select File-›Print, or File-›Page Setup, I get a dialogue box saying "Before printing please select Page Setup from the file menu to set page orientation". Trashing preferences didn't help. This applicaiton gets less and less useful every time I use it! What's going on Apple!? [alert admin]
