iOrganize 6.2.3 (Mac OS X)

Still a great product

I simply cannot agree with all the recent negative feedback. Yes, I still use version 5.5.5 rather than 6.2.3 (I prefer the user interface slightly). However, I've tried most of the note books and organizers out there. iOrganize is simply a great VALUE with a very fast straightforward learning curve. Not all things to all people, but that may be a plus. It has met my needs perfectly for years. AKopman [alert admin]

G*Power (Mac Intel) 3.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Opal 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)

What a pleasure.

It's nice to rediscover an old friend (Acta reincarnated) . In lieu of the old Acta I've been using OmniOutliner (OO). OO is a powerful program but has a steep learning curve and far more features than I need or want. Opal in contrast is extremely intuitive, meets all my needs, and is affordable. After using it for one hour I purchased the program. [alert admin]

TimeMachineEditor 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Perfect

Exactly what I wanted. Simple. Elegant. Intuitive. Backups every 1 hour are overkill especially when I am only surfing the web. Changed increment to 3 hours. Works perfectly. The ability to backup at any time on demand still remains. This should be part of the Mac OS. [alert admin]

VueScan 8.4.60 (Mac OS X)

It saved my scanner

I have an old Minolta Scan Dual II film scanner. The original Dimage driver software does not work under OS-10.5. No problem. VueScan recognized the scanner automatically. I don't know of any other application that would have worked so seamlessly. [alert admin]

xPad 1.2.6 (Mac OS X)

What a wonderful little program

I've been looking for a simple replacement for the old classic notepad for years. I've tried them all. Most notepads are too ambitious (slow, with steep learning curves) or too simple with ugly interfaces. xPad gets it right. I use iOrganize for keeping track of my life (passwords, serial numbers, misc). But xPad now sits on my dock as an essential utility. It opens instantly, and is a great place to store misc. pieces of text etc.until I can organize them more formally. Many thanks to the creator. [alert admin]

Pester 1.0 (Mac OS X)

A fatal flaw

A nice simple interface. Would be very useful except for a fatal flaw. Let's assume I set a reminder for tomorrow at 8:00 AM. However, I over sleep and turn on the computer at 8:05 AM. -> No reminder appears. Yes there is a record of an expired reminder if you check the reminder log, but I may never do that. Sorry. Much too limited an approach [alert admin]

Ultralingua Dictionary 6.0 (Mac OS X)

Beware of upgrade

Just upgraded from vsersion 5.0 to 6.0. This process eliminated my older application and made my dictionary inoperative. The only solution pay a $20 upgrade fee. There was no warning that this would happen. Fortunately, I was able to revert to version 5 from an external hard drive. Common guys... Play fair. [alert admin]

GraphPad InStat 3.0b (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

A God-send for the statistically challanged.

Not a substitute for high end users, but... The first program that I've found that painlessly in ENGLISH rather than mathematical jargon guides the user to the proper statistical test. The feature that I like most is that it tests your data to determine if a nonparametric test is most suitable. Yeah, its not cheap for its limited abilities, but frankly its the program I've been looking for. I love it. A Kopman [alert admin]

Very un-Mac like

I could not agree more. Adobe went from a very pleasant interface with Elements 4.0 and Bridge to a horror with Elements 6.0 and Bridge CS3. I haven't had time to plumb all the new features, so I assume there is more functionality available, BUT... This version misses the essence of a Macintosh program: An elegant interface that is a pleasure to use. Ugh!!

If it was possible to try it........

I'm not sure what Rango is talkin about. As a single user I've been using Synch Pro X for two years to make bootable backups on two externl HDs. Never a problem. Always fast reliable.

compared to.....

If you don't "go into detail" your comments really aren't very helpful. Everybody's desktop is organized differently . Why not just recognize that what works perfectly for some, just isn't your cup of tea. In my case, iOrganize gets 5 stars. Akopman

I did change my mind!

What Mac OS are you using? I bet it wasn't Panther. Norton Utilities 8.0.1 is non-functional in that environment.
