MacroKey 4.0 (Mac OS X)

warning

I have not downloaded this software, but it looks suspicious. The file size is 13k, which is very tiny and it doesn't seem likely that it would be able to do what it claims in that small a file. Also, the developer's site doesn't work and there is no developer information. And version 4.0 is the first version. If the developer reads this, you might want to update your information and check that the file is correct. I would caution anyone else from trying this program until more information is available. BatChmod 1.51 (Mac OS X)

Works great

When you get a new Mac the upgrade process is usually pretty simple. It can be much harder trying to set up your old computer for someone else. A couple of times I've had permission problems when trying to move files from someone else's computer to my old computer. In both cases it was easy to fix the problem with BatChmod. I highly recommend it. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X Intel 10.4.7 (Mac OS X)

sound volume, display brightness & eject keys on keyboard not working

After the 10.4.7 update on my Intel iMac, restarting took a little longer than normal. There were recovered files in the trash and a dmg file that wouldn't mount (some gibberish name like khnmshyu.dmg). I checked a few things and it seems that most everything is okay, except a few keyboard keys aren't working. The display brightness keys, sound volume & eject keys don't do anything now. I'll fiddle around a bit and report back if I get it fixed. [alert admin]

another restart and the keys are working!

Okay, right after the first post, I started with the easiest possible fix and, indeed, after another restart the keys are working again! I should have tried that before posting. Then again, maybe it will help someone else. Everyone should try a restart or two before bothering to reinstall, deleting caches, etc...
