Adobe Acrobat 9.0 (Mac OS X)
We've finally gotten version 8 Pro to be stable in our environment and v9 comes out with no real good features or fixes?! Of course we'll be forced to upgrade to it so we can have support for our issues on over 500 or so Macs.. But Adobe has it all wrong- they should develop a core application and offer plugins for the functionality added in this upgrade. Want Flash in your documents?-- we have a plugin you can purchase for that. But forcing people to pony up $299 or whatever it costs for an upgrade is robbery. I usually side with Adobe and love their products but the company makes some awful decisions that usually hurts the loyal users. This is why people would rather pirate software instead of buy it legally! [alert admin]

Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.1 (Mac OS X)

BatChmod 1.5 (Mac OS X)
When I saw this listed as an update I almost wet myself. Since the last version had a nasty habit of crashing upon quitting I would use the app and try to tell myself that it wouldn't completely break one day leaving me to hand code each chmod. The greatest strength of this app isn't necessarily the GUI (which IS very good) but is the ability to unlock and apply the settings recursively. EXCELLENT work on this app- I'm on my way to donate RIGHT NOW! I don't just recommend it- Its something more than that.. you can't live without it. [alert admin]

Now Up-to-Date & Contact 5.3.2 (Mac OS X)
We used this for ages and some swear by it- honestly if you're an organization you're either using Exchange for this type of information management or you might have Leopard server with the new iCal server & features. In both cases you'd be much better off than if you were to invest in this application. Case and point, Leopard has been out and in use since late 2007 and in this version, at least 4 months into 2008 we're seeing updates that reportedly address some serious functionality or data corruption issues. Hmm. I would think twice about continuing support of this product purely because you remember it being a good suite of tools. If it works for you now I advise you to export ALL your data into a compatible format and start testing other tools in the market.. Even free software is more readily supported by OpenSource or private authors. Not a terrible review but one that sees the big picture. [alert admin]

Thoth 1.8.4 (Mac OS X)
..to see the author updating this. This version has been held over our heads for well over a year and I'm sure its worth the wait.. however, for some reason the author feels the user community owes him something more than the registration fee for the title in order for us to have his respect- at least as equal as the respect we've afforded him. I will no longer use his software regardless of whether or not he's finally gotten this version out to us. For those that remember what I'm talking about I stand with you in the endless boycott of this app. As fitting as it is for many people's needs, customer support and service should always accompany the product. Well it looks like some tough sites are now working but there are some that used to have no problems authenticating (Sharepoints sites) now no not run at all. The workaround is to use FireFox. [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 9.0 (Mac OS X)
Thats all well and fine, but..
Glad to see all this mutli-media stuff and all- but how about helping us backup our newly copy protected media. I bought BF2142 for the Mac which is SafeDisc protected and I am forced to use my original store bought media (and carry it with me which is dangerous).. So make a product with all the media coolness and leave TOAST as a serious burning, archiving and optical backup solution. DMG images don't work with this title- burning from a PC may be possible but doing that is missing the point. [alert admin]

Apple iPhone SDK 1.0 (Mac OS X)
In my email link from Apple: "Thank you for registering as an iPhone Developer. To access the iPhone Dev Center and download the free SDK, simply click on the button below, and sign in using your Registered iPhone Developer Apple ID and password." .. Now- I want my FREE SDK darn it! Who's in on the suit? I'm saving my email until this is FREE again and forwarding copies to the appropriate people. This is not cool. Free one moment then $99 or $299 the next? Bait and switch eh? This is like detouring me away from driving over the free bridge then directing me to drive over the toll bridge instead at full cost. No way- FREE is FREE. [alert admin]

Apple iPhone SDK 1.0 (Mac OS X)
You will need to register as an iPhone developer first- even if you already are and ADC member (I am) and then Apple will email you a link that doesn't work. :( [alert admin]

Anything you find under the Mac OS X tab on this site is Mac OS X only. Click the Windows tab above to see your Windows Only updates. I don't believe Apple has anything for Windows..yet (?) that will be of interest here- but its part of their exclusion tactics. Apparently you can't develope for iPhone unless you're a Mac user. If this were MS it would have hit the fan by now.…

Oh good grief- look: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/program/ Money shouldn't be asked for at all for software development. You can't mix "free" with the cost for membership (yeah you can have a limited account with access to SOME stuff) but otherwise you pay. Not Beotching, this ain't the Windows world where you need pay for everything including the right to author software to enhance the OS or experience.. - we develop much for free in the…

No you don't get it- You don't and you can argue all you want.. This is a web based device- access to web required! Development of such apps and languages used are standards compliant. XCode is GCC based which is free. Open Source is open source so use or access to the SDK is paid? What is that? The link has been changed since the first announcement was…

Q: So why should you be SCARED of a CUPS update?
Yes and no. Since this is an Apple product and some of the fixes specifically point out Mac issues I'll say that it was written partially with Mac OS in mind. However it is Open Source and meant to work with many systems that can compile it. If you compile a piece of software you're pulling code written for your platform. If that code doesn't exist then you won't be able…

Re-Uploaded correct binary. New link..
For those having problems with the 1.3.0 distro I've compiled the 1.2.12 version as well. It is possible if you have a pre-existing issue with any file being replaced (like permissions) then you'll get an error on install. Very frustrating.. I know.

Ok- so according to the rules of distribution (*read GPL*) the way I distro'd the last Binary was wrong. I didn't include the usual mishmash of information included in CUPS distros. I've fixed that and reposted the correct 1.3.0 distro- read carefully!! Apple HAS stamped this distro which limits us to a degree. Also I built this on an Intel Mac and have no way of testing under PPC. Restart…
