PathSync 0.31 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

It works! It's Free! Has simple and great features

Pathsync is pretty straight forward. Pick two directories and it will compare them and then either copy files from one to the other based on some simple settings. The only thing missing is a scheduling feature but the occasional manual usage it fits the bill perfect. [alert admin]

ChronoSync 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Buy Chronosync or you'll be sorry

Okay I tried several other programs all of which had short comings. From what I have seen it doesn't get any better than Chronosync. This program is easy to use and actually works and can handle a huge number of files (half a terabyte in my case). This program is professional and yet inexpensive. To backup or sync files you simple launch the program select the two folders or volumes and click synchronize.. it's that easy!! If you need more control it's got it!! The scheduling works and gives progress info while it works. I love this software! [alert admin]

Synk 5.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Buy Chronosync instead of Synk or you'll be sorry

Synk was reccomended to me by a friend. Unfortunately I was dissappointed by synk. The biggest problem with this program is the built in scheduling which was unreliable plus it does not give feedback while it's working. The other problem is that if you are synking large numbers of files (like half a terabyte in my case) it takes forver to save your synk document. Plus the synk document kept "forgetting" settings. The other downside is that this program is written by an individual and even though they provide some support I foudn their customer relationships highlight with aserbic and insulting remarks. Check out the synk forum for examples. Otherwise the program is easy to use and straight forward for manual synking of files and may work well enough for small numbers of files but for a few more dollars you can get Chromsync which is a far more robust program which is still easy to use and all it's features work.
