MSN Messenger 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Oh brother

Complain to Microsoft feedback, I did and they promised they would look into the requested features in a future version. For now I'll have to keep annoying my friends as they think I'm ignoring their game, webcam and file transfer request. Oh, and the always good: "How come I can't see your user pic?" Thanks Microsoft! Apple iTunes 4.5 (Mac OS X)

Great update, but...

...why doesn't Party Shuffle work with the iPod? And when can we ever have the option to drag tunes from the playlist to the Finder or other applications like FCP? [alert admin]

Proteus 4.0b5 (Mac OS X)

Fantastic!

Once this gets out of Beta, Justin will have my money. This is the superior IM-client right now. Just needs MSN File Transfer and Buddy Images support. Heck, I can't even use AIM/iChat File Transfer for some reason. Bah. The new UI is a real step up from the last version and I really love this software. [alert admin]

Opera 7.5p3 (Mac OS X)

7.5p3 where?

All I get is a download link to the current release 6.03 (which is crap btw). I hear they actually hired a mac programmer for the 7.5 release, so I'm looking forward to it :) [alert admin]

Sofa 0.6v231 (Mac OS X)

It's finally growing up

This is THE companion to iTunes, and I've used them all, PTHNotifier, Synergy and even youControl. It still lacks hotkeys and some polish though (I can't get it to auto-share covers with iTunes, having to do it manually). Especially in the documentation area. It NEEDS pop-up context help labels (WTF do that lock-icon do?). It could do with hue-adjustment of the skins (I love the snow-skin, but would like a more graphite top), like Audion. And what's with that warning that pops up in the background (usually behind a window) asking if I want to share the cover with iTunes that I can't get in the front. I've often forced quit Sofa thinking it was crashed. Oh, and when choosing a cover manually from web services the menu will not go away when trying to apply the cover. I have to open it manually and drag it to the cover box (triggering another hidden alert). This may seem like ranting, but I really love this software and would like to see the bugs go away ASAP. It's gotten better though. It used to be completely unusable. Now I can't live without it. [alert admin]

Why does my rectangular earth-view now suddenly look like a badly compressed JPEG? [alert admin]

iTiR 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Not for the faint of heart

Well it works. And that's about all I can say about it. The installation procedure requires you to add your users to a group and the documentation just states that you have to, not HOW to do it (it's a rather involved procedure using NetInfo). The GUI just provides you with play back and next, hiding all other options in a menu. I see this more of a proof of concept than anything. It needs a serious overhall in installation, documentation and not to mention GUI. It should be possible to create a GUI for the remote that closely resembles iTunes. Heck, even my cell-phone can do that via Salling Clicker. And for the love of holyness, make the base application a background app either by making a daemon out of it or just a faceless app. [alert admin]

Poisoned 0.497 (Mac OS X)

Daemon restarts, crash

I get a reset of the daemon every now and then (every search disappears, downloads reappear after a moment). And it crashes now too. Going back to 0.496 which thankfully I didn't delete (and it doesn't exibhit this behavior). Requests: Sorting columns, toolbar button for preview file, context menu for preview in (like open with in finder). [alert admin]

Adobe Illustrator CS 11.0 (Mac OS X)

**FASTER**

Illustrator 11 is a lot faster (in my tests) than v10. It opens up 40% faster both on first launch and consecutive launches. Opening files still takes some time though. Overall a good upgrade (My company buys it so I can't comment on if it's worth the price or not). [alert admin]
