The main reason, if you don't know about it, is that since version 5 GE introduced an autoupdater that installs stuff in your computer at root level, which connect to the net every 2 hours or so.There are no other apps which dare to do so, not even Apple ones.
Such thing is unacceptable, dangerous and not necessary, since a common "upgrade on demand" feature would be more than enough.
