Same here, version 1.74 stops working after a while, and deleting preferences doesn't help.
I ended up going to the developper's site and downloaded version 1.70 which works perfectly as it used to:

Sorry, dont agree - in fact your post sounds almost like an ignorant rant just shouting "open source is all crap and especialyl this piece" from someone who seems to have some chip on their shoulder - objectivity dear boy, its the way to go. I tend to find, when people have lots of problem with apps that are widely used, its to do with: machine setup / maintenance / understanding unless of course it IS a crap app, and there are some around - but this is NOT that case.

Personally, i have been using this app for a number of years, and can confidently say i have NEVER had to force quit :-) or any other problems. It is fast, lightweight, and with lots of functionality. No issues at all, and have much respect for the devs for the speed with which they address issues and post updates.

This is a fantastic app, and die-hard.

1.74 quits a little slowly, slower than previous versions, that's all I experienced. No serious problems on my machine whatsoever. Sort out your own problems first...

If I had a dollar for every time Transmission has crashed, quit or locked up, I'd...still be waiting for my first dollar. You, my friend, have more problems than what you think this program is doing, but feel free to learn nothing & howl loudly.

I'm *SURE* that will make everything better for you.
