If OpenOffice is a throwback to anything, it's to X11 and traditional X11 window managers. It has nothing to do with Windows and never has.
Also, the original poster said from the start that OpenOffice doesn't require X11 -- that's his point. Between NeoOffice and OpenOffice, (both of which run native), what are the pros and cons of each?
