Since VMWare and Crossover are using the same WINE elements then how would it perform any better?

Of the two options mentioned. I would opt for BootCamp for 100% (or near so) compatibility and performance.. I agree though, it should be pointed out that even the GOLD marked items have some issues.. In many cases its minor but that would still be considered more than exist under BC. Its really meant for people who have NO WINDOWS INSTALLATIONS TO USE AT ALL.
