Whether or not you think that PowerPC outnumbers Intel or vice-versa is largely immaterial. There are two major personality types out there - those who stick with what is reliable and what they know, and those who look for the next big thing. The fact that there are still plenty of PowerPC machines out there, 3.5 years after the switch, the PowerPC users are less likely to be looking to switch to a completely new Office suite, regardless of what they've previously used from. Now divide that by the number of people of that personality type willing to use a pre-release.
I'm not surprised that the PowerPC (a market that cannot get bigger) users have not tested or fed back on the 3.0rc.
And regardless, you have there word from the group about why there is no full release. So even if you believe otherwise, you have right there at that URL the ammunition to get PowerPC development kick-started again. Otherwise they're contradicting themselves. That is what they stated, and you can hold them to it.
