turns out i had two copies on my drive and i kept opening 2.1 which did not work. the new version works! i am happy again.

It'll work if you stop making a mountain out of a molehill. Turn off all those bells and whistles. Per your own post, it worked ok until you added those "features". Get back to the basics, don't be greedy, and let the App. work.
