is this a review or a rant? Been using the software for years and it has been working great. I had not the need for it to run on intel hardware.

If it's been working for you well then you should count your fortunes as truly blessed. As of late version 5.x it's been increasingly flaky on corporate Mac systems and networks, and as of full version 6 downright unusable and problematic in the extreme.

It *used* to be the best out there; I dropped it as soon as BRU was stable and usable -- years ago.

Perhaps your requirements of Retrospect were simple. But if you needed corporate LAN backups to rotating tapes, you've been kind of SOL for a while now.
