Here is an experiment I highly suggest you try: Burn your MP4s to CD, rip by method of choice which by default is importing an unprotected song (try a few methods until you find one you like), have people listen to the original then the ripped/stripped version (don't tell them which they are listening to) and see if they can tell a difference. Good luck finding an "audiophile" that can tell the difference!
