So the PowerPC code is state of art? - imobile
Don't worry. BE HAPPY!
You DO NOT want this CODE!
My old iBook G4 works perfectly on my Airport Express N .
THe Latest, greatest iMac Intel Core Duo 2 3.06Ghz is a bloody disaster!
Keeps on dropping off!
And how can one go back via Airport Utility to an earlier version if the Airport does not work?
My router/airport is in basement, my iMac is upstairs!

Intel macs had and still have more problems with wl connections than PPC macs, there still were more problems in 2006 than now. So, be happy with your PPC just as I am with my 12 in PB, a jewel of its kind.Saturday, October 25 2008 @ 06:48 AM PDT

You must realize that Intel is the way Apple's going. They are trying to perfect Airport bit by bit so that it will be ready to be used in the new OS they are working on.Saturday, October 25 2008 @ 06:57 AM PDT

The more likely scenario is that the HARDWARE is different in the PPC and Intel Macs. The Intel Macs use different chipsets and wireless components. This is most likely a driver update for the wireless chips used in the Intel Macs.Saturday, October 25 2008 @ 11:40 AM PDT

I had a G5 that became "completely unhinged" after the Apple 10.4.9 through 10.4.10 updates. External drives were flung from the computer and destroyed and finally the G5 PPC stopped working, itself, never to rise again.Apple did not have the Nvidia 8800 graphics card with which to replace the Nvidia 7800 card I had opted for in the G5. They only had the Nvidia 2200 in stock. Although I had an active AppleCare agreement in place, Apple made me wait six months for a replacement to the G5 PPC because they opted not to include the the Nvidia 2200 card they had in stock, but instead offered the regular ATI card that I refused to accept.
I ended up contacting Attorneys General in two states and considering legal action before getting a replacement computer for a G5 PPC - under AppleCare - that did not work properly and failed ultimately under Apple updates I feel were not designed for it.
The Intel Macs have problems that are aggravated by updates as well, yet Apple seemingly remains close-mouthed about them and Apple Technical Support apparently has no clue or has been told to keep quiet. I am not sure about Airport Extreme, but print drivers, coding for ColorSync profiles, and any other parameters that affect the Nvidia graphics card should be addressed by Apple immediately.
Also, Leopard still improperly disconnects external hard drives, damaging them. When brought to the attention of Apple Technical Support, the issue is not addressed, but it seems Apple has long had a known, unaddressed problem with mounting and unmounting. In the meantim, I have expensive external drives that will no longer work!
Not only are PPCs apparently not being addressed. There is much more Apple ostensibly is not addressing and about which Apple is being silent!

Or maybe the fault that this patch fixed isn't found on the PPC models....Reply to This
