not yet (ppc) - PacMac

I'd say no.. NeoOffice is still the better of the two, at least here with my iBook G4. Can't say much about the Intel version but I highly doubt there are many differences.. So my advice is to stick with NeoOffice at least until Version 3.1.

I'd say no... It's not ready yet and the Mac integration doesn't even come close to the one accomplished in NeoOffice. I'll check back with OpenOffice.org as soon as they reach version 3.1.

how does this version of OpenOffice compare - chiasm

For me, there are 2 practical advantages of OO aside from it being aqua...

1. OO opens the XML files (e.g. xlsx) that the new version of MS Office generates. NeoOffice can't (or at least I can't get it to), and neither can MS Office 2004 (MS Office 2004 has to convert the file). I have a licensed copy of MS Office 2004 and I refuse to buy another MS Office program. I'm not a MS hater, I just hate using Word.

I work often with huge spreadsheets that exceed the capacity of MS office 2004 and NeoOffice (64,000+ cells). OO seems to handle these capacities well.

2. I collaborate with others often using the "track changes" and "comments" features (all of my collaborators use MS Office). For some reason, NeoOffice has trouble showing other peoples' "comments". OO works pretty well. I try to use Pages for these features, but the interface is sloppy and I often have trouble exporting back to .doc format (the collaborators get a goofy-formatted file).

I've been trying OO as its been progressing. OO 2 just wasn't ready. The prior 3.0 betas and RC1 were frankly too unstable and I stopped using them. I've been using RC2 since it came out and its been quite stable for me and I've been quite pleased.
