Then this indicates the state of your computer and not the fault of the application itself. If a single running application suddenly freezes and then crashes, Mac OS X will never bring the rest of your computer down with it as the application in question will simply quit, leaving other applications alone. So I'm afraid either you don't know what you are doing or you are not giving us 'the greater picture'.
This application is actually extremely good- better imo than Audacity.
