They Just Want More Money - JD_1
Very well written!I have no experience with Quark aside from using it in school a number of years ago and I wasn't impressed with it then.
I do however have a competitor for your " Most user-hostile, cheap and greedy company in all of software publishing today.
That would be the good folks at Bias who have mirrored your observations when it comes to Peak! Overpriced with each upgrade release, buggy and an install and verification procedure that is this side of treating customers as if they are criminals!
Some of these companies will never get it and are losing customers by the truck load. So be it. With other choices out in the market, with Mac's now running on Intel chips, We're better off without 'em!

Very good points. Quark and Peak... two programs I use, and both of them are WAY over priced!I still like Quark, but it's too expensive, the install process is nonsense with that 100 character long serial number, and they are just generally a PITA to deal with.
Looks like they made some nice changes in the new version, and it's still over priced.
Not as bad as RAMpage or Printergy EVO though. And they nickel and dime you for added features.

Markzware Q2ID plug in works wonderfully. If you have old projects in Xpress, convert them all to Indesign for around $200 with the plug in.
Best $200 I've spent in a long time. NOTHING "Quark" leaves my office anymore. It may come in as Xpress... but it leaves with an Adobe logo.

This is the best summary of Quark I have ever read. Right one the money in every point. This one-time leader is a mere shell of the great company it once was.Reply to This
