Just convert the songs to ID3 tag version 2.4 and that will take care of it. This can be done by selecting a song and then choose the Advanced menu - Convert ID3 Tags...Thursday, July 31 2008 @ 12:46 AM PDT
Beware! Not really... - Jason Gladstone
Have dozens of song titles and artists with accented names. No problems whatsoever. I would suggest you have a problem with your own system, not with iTunes.Thursday, July 31 2008 @ 01:47 AM PDT

Beware! this version corrupts accented characters - eccparis
Good news: version 7.7.1 fixes the accent problem! (In 7.7, if you only looked at the track & artist names in the main window without actually playing the track or get its info, the accented letters still appeared correctly. It's when you play it, get its info or even just move it from one playlist to another, that the accented letters get corrupted.) Kudos to Apple for coming up with this fix so quickly!Thursday, July 31 2008 @ 06:17 AM PDT
How widespread is this? - Eric M
Perhaps this is unique to you? Have you tried anything... repairing permissions, perhaps? After reading your comments, I investigated my own library and found that NONE of my artists/songs/albums, etc with accents have been corrupted. In other words, all is well on my system. Any accents pre-7.7 are still there.
Running iTunes 7.7 on G5 iMac/10.4.11.
