Finally! An update that rolls together all of the piecemeal updates going back to, what, 11.3.5?

Updates to Credit where it's due dept - deemery

Well, it does fix at least one problem in PowerPoint rendering images that it previously render (such as my project's title slide graphic :-) It's still painfully slow in rendering, but better slow than "not" or "crash". So after 2 days of usage, so-far-so-good.

You have to install the OOXML interpreters as a separate download. But they do seem to work. I got an .xlsx document that the OOXML interpreters opened in MS Office 04. (I previously opened that document with NeoOffice :-)

p.s. for a good read, see http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microsoft/library/2003Jangatesmoviemaker.pdf where Bill Gates flames Microsoft product usability in an internal memo released during a lawsuit.
